Can I shoot Hornady Light Magnum 444Marlin 265gr Interlock factory loads out of my 444P Marlin? Has anyone ever used this ammo in your Marlin? I know Ive read that the Light Magnums should only be used in bolt actions. Just a tad bit confused on this and want to know without calling Hornady or Marlin. Thanks in advance.

No one makes a bolt action .444. Marlin is the only current producer of a .444 rifle (Winchester made some 94's in .444 for a few years). Hornady is loading their "Light Magnum" loads specifically for your rifle.

I have used the Hornady Light Magnum factory loads in my '76 vintage 444s to good effect harvesting Bull Moose, Whitetail Deer Buck & Black Bear in the past. Since building a sufficient collection of Hornady Light Mag Brass, I am now reloading them with 44.5gr IMR 4198 powder, Federal Magnum Primer & Hornady 265gr Bullet. I limit my shots to 200 yards as I am using open sights, but everything I have shot with my Marlin .444 drops in its trax limiting the need for tracking.

Nice moose Ken and thanks for the information on both the Hornady LM and a reload. I just picked up 2 boxes of the Hornandy 265gr bullets, so your right on time with the info. Merry Christmas to all of you. BT100

I have trouble with the Hornady Light Magnum 265gr load in my M94 Timber Carbine .444 Marlin. It doesn't feed. It gets jammed between the magazine tube and barrel.

If you reload, you might have to shorten the COL but be sure to watch for pressure signs if you do.

Thanks VTDW. Has anyone by chance used the 250gr Nosler Partion to hunt with?
