I am trying to help someone find the answer to this question, and so far they have struck out. Do any of you have any ideas? Thanks!
What year did Leupold start making bases for the 336Marlin 336 lever-action, and were those bases initially two-piece or one?

Have you tried calling Leupold and asking them?

All of the "turn-in" style Leupold bases that I've seen for a 336 have been 1-piece. The old Detacho-Mount bases for the 336 were 2-piece style, as were (I believe) the Redfield Frontier series.

For what it's worth, I have the current issue Leupold 1-piece base and low rings on my 336 ... Standard Leupold mount, with the dovetail turn-in front ring, and the windage adjustable rear. Here's a picture ...



It's a hair deceiving in the picture, but with the rear sight set as low as it can go, and blade folded down, the scope's objective bell (32mm objective) clears it by about 1/16" ...
