I have asked a couple members this but just wanted to throw it out here

Am building a 270 with a Brux barrel what twist should i go?

Plan to shoot 130 ballistic tips/sierra's, 130 berger hybrids, possibly something longer one day maybe the matrix's.

Will going to a fast twist for the longer bullets hurt anything with the lighter 130's?

I found 1 in 10 adequate to stabilize even the 160 grain Nosler. Unless you have a longer bullet, I'd sure stay w/ the old standard 1/10...

I know the matrix's are 165 gr and are VLD's so probably pretty long, anyone have an idea on how they'll do in a 1-10" ?

I'd go and I did go 9 with my Brux .270 tube, #2 cut to 23".

Shoots balls out with 140 Bergs and the 165 Matrix. I see no reason to go 10 with the 9 option available.

I'd go 9 to shoot the matrix or EVEN 8.5 for the new 170 Berger when ever they get it going!!!

.007 off a 7mm and the bullet options are getting better with high BC offerings.

Like already said, I'd go the same as I would in a .284 tube, 1-9".

My 280AI with a 1-8.8 loves 120 grainers.

The faster twist hurts nothing with lighter bullets...I've shot a slew of the 130's through 9 twist 270's....Like with 25 caliber the 10 twist originated with C&C bullets that were shorter. My Brux 9 twist shoots great with 130's.

Today you have longer bullets with high BC coming on board in 277;even things like the Barnes,AB's,Swift SS II,etc. No reason not to go 9 twist for the 270 Winchester.

I have both 1-9 (Krieger) & 1-9.25 (Bartlien). Have shot a lot of 110 ttsx thru 160 partitions. All worked very well. Will never go with a ten again. Will try the 165 Matrix soon.

Amen. A 9" twist is the new 10 twist in .270.

Now 8.5" is the twist to have. The cool kids want 8.5's grin

Well I called Brux and changed it to a 1-9" twist. They said it will only be a couple more weeks, I guess I timed my order perfectly. What great guys to deal with, very accommodating.
