I noticed Tikka (on paper anyway) offers these rifles in LH. Specs seem similar. Can anyone tell me if the 260 and 6.5 magazine permit loading a round long enough to kiss the lands? Thought perhaps the 6.5 box would be longer.

I have the 6.5x55 and a few short action T3s as well.
In the 6.5 I can easily touch the lands with the 140 BT/AB, Scenar, and AMAX. That being said there is absolutely no reason to do so in my application. I am jumping .080-.100 or more in some cases and achieve precision that excedes any of my requirements. It shoots TINY groups.
In the short action .260 and others you can use the factory long action specific magazine and bolt latch and have all the magazine length and matching bolt stroke you ever wanted. Both are available from Brownells. You will certainly be able to touch lands if your bullet does not fall out of the case mouth first.

There are only a few Tikka 260's in the US - beretta won't import them.
So you are likely to get stuck going 6.5x55 which isn't bad
The only one's they do import that I know of are the T3 sporters at 1,600 a crack. It's a custom T3 with a wood stock like a Mc A3, and a few other bells and whistles for long range bench shooting.

I have bad news for you. The .260 Rem chambering is NOT available in the United States in the T3 Lite. I called the Beretta dealer and they said it is only available in Europe. I called Eurooptics because they are one of the largest dealers of Tikka/Sako in the US. They confirmed that they are not available.
The only two T3 offerings in .260 Rem, in the US, are the T3 Hunter and the T3 Sporter, and you must get a left hand action in the Hunter, because right handed is not available in the Hunter model. If you want one order it quick because it is a limited offer.
I was told to look at the Beretta USA website, not the Tikka website, for the latest offerings available in the US. I was going to buy the new Hunter Stainless Fluted in .260, but no chance.
I told them that the TIkka brand is really missing the boat not offering the .260 chambering here. I guess they don't want it to compete with their other brand Sako.
Enough already, just shoot it!

I forgot about the left handed T3 260's on Alex's site - thanks.
Sako prices is kind of crazy but they do have the Sako 85 in 260.. But your going to have to sell off 2-3 tikka's to get one
That being said the 6.5x55 T3 is pretty darn accurate - you just have to put up with a load data issues of the older stuff.

I can not think of any good reason to want a Tikka T3 in .260 unless you just have to have a .260. Tikka's only come in a long action, just the mags are different. The 6.5X55 will do anything a 260 can and more, IE heavier bullets. The only thing a 6.5X55 will not do is fit a short action well. Go with the 6.5X55 and don't look back.

That's great guys, but the 6.5x55 is not available here in the T3 Lite either. Used to be, but not now.

I think there was a special run made available through EuroOptic or something like that, but they were $900 for the T3 Lites.
...on earth as it is in Texas.

I've got a T3 Lite in the 6.5x55. Bought it back in 2008 I believe and even then it was hard to find, and took a few months. Most accurate gun I own.
Also, it is set up for long action, the bolt stop and mag are the same as with the 30'06 etc.

Just get a 270 then, and be done with it.

All -- thanks. That shortens the learning curve. I'm glad because I really wanted the 6.5 anyway. It's the Swedish blood in me. Dakota -- I have a great .270. What's your point?

I have had a beautiful wood stock T3 in a 6.5x55 I bought about 10 years ago. It shoots a Barnes 120 grain at just under 3000 fps and 100 grain TTSX at 3150fps. Very accurate .75 ". It is my most accurate firearm. Buckfever1
