Well, you were consistent. Probably a tight group. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> How many guys would be brave enough to share there misses. I can't believe the boy stood there for three shots. He probably thought he was dead after that first shot.

Maybe the range isn't all that short. There seems to be a significant delay between the muzzle blast and the the bullet strike - 0.25 to 0.5 seconds gets you 200-400 yards at 2,500-fps.

My guess is that a telephoto is making that deer look closer than he really is.

Sorry ... but I'd quit hunting after that ...

It looks like the dummy was trying for a neck shot. And on top of that he was not bright enough to compensate for the misses. All three bullets hit in nearly the same place, with plenty of dust to mark the shot.

I would be too ashamed to even ask money for my rifles, I'd have to give them away to somebody with the capability of putting them to good use.

A man has to know his limitations.

ok ... I just watched it again, three times ... I tried to give the shooter the benefit of the doubt, so here goes ...

First, it might be a bit longer shot than it looks, but still, can't be that long. Besides that, I see no evidence of wind, as everything is perfectly still, and the dust clouds do not blow in any other direction than that which the bullet hitting the ground is sending them. Next, you can see two other box stands down the road behind the buck, so I can only assume that these people have them set up all down the road, and that's what the shooter is perched in. This SHOULD provide a very steady rest, making the shot a piece of cake. Third, he had THREE SHOTS at a well sized buck, perfectly broadside, and even giving him a HUGE neck area to shoot, if that was the intended POI.

Even with massive buck fever, this deer should have easily been taken by a boiler room shot ... which (I hope) this shooter was not trying to take advantage of ...

My original perception of this guy stands ... he's a doof, and should quit hunting forever.

It looks like someone could use some practice to me.

I am not sure those were all misses. I have seen deer react that way after being shot through the lungs with bullets that did not expand. I would sure have followed that up by looking for blood or any signs of a hit.

PDS ... go watch it again ... and pay close attention to the third shot, which is the only one that could possibly have hit the deer, seeing as how it didn't move at all from the first two shots ... That third shot clearly missed the deer, as no part of the deer "waffled" at all ... I mean, even if the bullet passed thru w/out expanding, you SHOULD see some sign of impact, like a radial wave, thru the chest ...

but again, to give benefit of the doubt, it COULD have been a hit, but I seriously doubt it ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

I sent this to a friend and he thought the guy might have been shooting a shotgun with slugs. The ejection noise and the thud of the round hitting the floor has him wondering. Me too. It might clear up how he could miss so easily.
