Guns shows.
Many have the "button" welded on to make magazine changes very fast.

Go to Sacramento Black Rifle, in Rocklin,CA.
They will fix you up. They are on Blue Oaks Blvd, east of Lonetee.

AR's in CA are required to have a "bullet button" magazine release that requires a tool such as a bullet tip to drop the mag.
I've gotten Stoner 10 rounders from Midway that work well and appear to be identical to the S&W supplied mag with the exception of the color of the follower.

Best place is national gun supply. Nationalgunsupply.com.
These are pmags. 30 rd mags that have a rivet on the side limiting the rounds to 10. Good prices with freebie deals often.
The best part about these is that there are no other changes to the 30 rd mag. If you move out of state, the laws change (yeah right), or it all goes to hell and laws don't matter anymore, you can take a small drill bit and drill out the rivet and you're left with a functioning 30 round mag. As long as you don't do that right now, you're perfectly legal.
I plan to move out of state in the near future, so I like these because I won't lose money on 10/30 mags after I move to a free state.
Another thing you can do is buy 30 round rebuild kits. NEVER assemble these in Ca. But if you sign up for a training class, you simply drive out of state, assemble the mags, take the class, dissassemble, and drive back. That way you're only transporting parts, always legal, and can take a carbine course with normal 30 round mags.
