.....not to be confused with the B-58 HUSTLER strategic bomber that Bobby Mac thought to be a fail in the mid 60's!

Remarkable plane the Hustler, on many levels and way ahead of its time...and in some cases, the pilots that flew it. Back around '61-'62 there was one flyin' in the vicinity of Altus, OK at high Mach and altitude...something came undone and it fireballed up there, witnessed across 4-5 states is was so high. Talk about going out in a blaze of glory, those boys did it...

Heckuva artistic piece of engineering if you ask me.

I loved those birds! Growing up as an AF dependent, I got to see them up close once a year or more... and frequently got to see them fly into the base we lived on...

Those were the glory days of SAC... I got to be around B 47s, B52s, and B 36s.. the old man flew B 47s and spent some time in B52.. and small amount of time in B 58s... he loved the B 47 and B 58s the most...

being an AF dependent back in the 50s and early 60s was a pretty good way to grow up, weren't it Dan?

So were you AND DD AF brats? Sorry if that is derogatory but I have 3 nieces that were as my bro spent 20 in the AF from 73-93.

Have you and/or Dan ever see the so called escape pod they toyed with on those suckers??? Interesting!

250 is where it gets hairy and the premium glass really stands out.
