Bagtic--Old rims are turned of to slightly smalller
than extractor groove of bmg case. Then threaded
5/8 x 24 and 12ga size rims screwed and loctited on..
Here is pic showing case threaded ready to take rims
shown in pic.If you ask is it worth effort, well I
hace a case fired 36 times, no resizing needed on bottom
half of case.Case good for couple hundred firings.Ed.

Here is picture of the case we fired 36 times, sectioned.
It shows no thinning, not even any to be measured, and
that in conjunction with big primers so there is no
ignition problems, means we got a winner. Case will last
couple hundred rounds.Ed.

Checked on 10ga and 12ga NEF Ultra Slug guns. Barrels are
large diameter, but not alloy. I think use barrel breech
section for a monoblock and put in long heavy 12ga alloy
barrel, and treat the monoblock to higher strength. Use a
weighted thumbhole buttstock and with heavy barrel get weight up to 16-20 lbs. Being break action and large cartridge, barrel should be 32+ inches.Ed

Here is picture of a heavy double with alloy barrels,
like rifles have, that we are checking to see if they
will work for our case.Ed

Rattler-With a scope, 3-400 yds.Pointed slug is
640 gr, hollowbase. Lead could be put in base to
get weight as high as 1000gr. I had those banded slugs
turned with hollowbase so if needed, I could add weight
test loads. But quite a few slugs sent to test, I didn't
have to.ED

have you tested to see what kind of accuracy you still have out to 300ish yards? how fast is it dropping? doesnt look terribly aerodynamic still a 640 grain slug started at 2500ish is going to have a heck of a smashing effect out that far. and i thought my 45-70 lobbing 405 hard cast was a bit much for ground squirrels <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I will have to try that later.Don't have scope on gun
and my bad eyes need one for over 100 yds.IT has a BC
of about .250 so should shoot as flat as a 350 gr
pointed bullet in a 458.Ed

Shot a 610 grain hollowpoint Dixie hard
slug into 6 gallon sealed pail of water.
Going 2800 fps, and real big hollowpoint.
First pic is pail with crimped on top.
Pail full and has filler spout capped.
Second pic,impact with water atomising,
and pail blowing apart. In the next small
fraction of a second is third after impact
with shelf cleared, the hyrostatic pressure
down, has bent top of steel frame shelf.
Same blast put jug pieces all over.
Got to get a 15 gallon one. Behind
you see my wood bundle backstop...Ed

fish280-I'm sure slug disintegrated in the pail.I made
it a real big hollowpoint, like hollow half way to
the base. Just to get the most explosive effect,
and not deflect out the side and perhaps miss
backstop.I took 730 gr and made it 610gr.The 730 grain
goes through about 3 ft of wood in the backstop
made of bundles.Ed

I picked up a 12ga NEF Ultra Slug gun.
24 inch shorty barrel.
Added weight and thumbhole stock.
Gun weighted to 15 lbs so
far. I got 600gr hard slug to
1650-1700 so far, and shoots easy.
Got 1 1/2 inch thick pad.Working up different
loads.Should get over 2000.
Cases eject easy,no resizing needed
on bottom half of case, action opens easy,
no evidence of binding.Started case 3.2 inch,
settled on case length of 3.15-- Chamber being
full size max 12ga size expands top half of case
more than my minimum chamber in Savage does,
so little more effort needed to size. Our case, though many times stronger than regular
12ga cases is thinner at mouth, so that is
why I used tight chamber on Savage.Still
can't get used to mickey mouse short barrel.
Anyone know of a genius who could
make long alloy barrel with pivot mounted?
Cases can be 3 inches on up to
our length, and work.Ed
