Anyone have any firsthand information on this 16-in. carbine? I know it's nowhere close to a mil-spec combat weapons, but they are going for $897 at my Wal-Mart and they take Magpul 7.62 mags.

How are they for accuracy and reliability?

Do they have forward assist? Do they have a bolt dust cover? Thin barrel or thick?

No, the vaunted forward assist is amiss and the dust cover is somewhere other. I have no idea about the heavy barrel.

Website says chrome-moly 16-in. HBAR w 1x10 twist. Overall weight is 8.3 pounds.

Anyone have extended trigger time? I like the slick side, no dustcover look.

I've held one, and wasn't impressed.

you might want to read this link before buying it. Remember, you get what you pay for in most instantances.

To say the buyer of his Sportical was upset would be an understatement.

I've never seen so many people without a clue on one post. It's scary.

You're referring to the gunandgame post, right?

In this thread, I'm just trying to find it anybody here has used a .308 Sportical and found it satisfactory. So far, the answer is no one's owned or fooled with one. smile

yes I was refering to the Guns and game post. I thought reading the comments and problems from another Sportical owner was what you were looking for. The OP on that link, had nothing good to say about the sportical and now regrets his purchase, regardless of the price. smirk

There is no advantage to buying a $900 AR if it requires $500 of upgrades to make it shoot and handle well. whistle

The charging handle will not close the bolt all the way if it doesn't close, the forward assist will. Without it you might have to cycle out a round and put another one in. You can do without the dust cover, but the forward assist might be necessary at some point.

I was referring to the gun and games post, not this one.

A 308 sized upper does not need a forward mount, nor does it need an extended charging handle. All stock triggers suck, that is the only decent thing about RR.

The dpms is their "bargain" model, it ain't gonna be anything more than cheaply made. I don't even like their top shelf models. You can't polish a turd.

Correct, no forward assist and dustcover. The barrel looks like a middle weight and not a heavy weight. I have not shot one but I get a close up look at one several times a week. They are what they are. If you want a 16" 308 non milspec plinker, it's the one. kwg

I've read some glowing accuracy reports from other forums and magazine websites, but would rather hear from 'Fire members with trigger time.

I'd rather pay the extra 100-ish to get a proper 18" barrel.
