The luck was with me this year and I drew a buck pronghorn tag and a bison tag. I'll be buying a lotto ticket tonight to see if the luck continues.
Anyway I have a place near the wyoming border and made quite a few trips to wyoming over the last few months.
The drought has been bad and I saw very few speed goats compared to prior years.
This is one that was safe on private ground.
I finally managed to find one on Blm ground and dropped this guy at around 200 yards with a 7mm08. He is about average size for the area south of Pinedale.
Next up was the buff hunt. This is a once in a life time draw and I drew an "any" bison tag.
It's not that hard to find a buffalo, the problem is finding one on the right side of the line. They have to leave Teton Park.
I made several trips over with no luck.
Being from Idaho, I'm partial to Idaho scenery but Wyoming also has some nice scenery.
It was cold last weekend--7 degrees.
I finally found a bull on the right side of the line. Fish and game said they had a lot of buff killed openning weekend (back in August) but that since that time no snow and not many animals have left the park.
I can tell you that it is a matter of luck. And certainly not a for sure thing.
Here's my bull
I shot it with an older model 70 375 h/h with 300gr triple shock. It dropped with one shot.
Should be some good eating.
