It depends. Do you want an Adams&Bennett or a Krieger barrel?

Not really looking for a match grade rifle it currently has an 18" barrel and I'd like to step up to 22" with a contour similar to my Kimber 308

$350 to $600 their are lots of variables. Price of the barrel is a big one. Reblue will be $125 or so. New stock if you change to countour?

But #1 - think of all the fun you will have, priceless.

I just put an Adams and Bennet barrel on a Mauser action... $92 for the barrel, and then $55 for a local gunsmith to finish the chambering, and crown it...

after the first ten shots, to zero a scope...it gave me a one hole three shot group at 50 yds and a group I could cover with a quarter at 100 yds... handloads with 140 grain Corelokts...

Only thing I'd add, is the 6.5x55 is a pre-98 action, and as such, isn't as strong as the 98's.

In my opinion, Seafire went about it the right way.

If the OP is thinkin' full blown custom, there are other avenues - all of 'em cost.
