Is anyone familiar with this series of rifles? Built in the late 90's, don't know much more than that?

Think there has also been a "Coup de Mort" and a "Coup de Main".

Thanks

ummm yeah thats about right, all but one of their rifles are at least $7600. for 3 grand I can order a BAT machine action with rail and recoil lug built in, jewel trigger, mcmillan stock of my choice, krieger barrel and all put together by a big name gunsmith. I think I will keep the extra $4600

It is for Jarrett.

I have 3 of them and love all of them. Expensive? Yes but just like a bottle of wine some people prefer paying extra to satisfy their taste for quality and the name on the label

at some point the rifle just can't get any better put together or use any better parts. my 3 grand scenerio above is just that. for a turn key rifle where you don't have to supply the parts GAP rifles would be my choice. at about half the money at that.

Thank goodness there are Savage Target Actions, prefit Pac-Nor barrels and laminated stocks. Thank goodness I inherited my parent's mechanical aptitude so I can finish and assemble my own stuff.

$7,600, say what? I only spent $1,500 on the rifle above (excluding scope), bedded and finished the stock myself, then screwed it together in my garage. Because I can do it, just about anyone can. Dang thing shoots good too, killed squirrels with aplomb. May not be a lightweight walkabout rifle, but you get the idea.

Same thing can be done with a nice new Remington 700 action from Brownells, using the Pac-Nor Remnut, although I recommend a bit of modification for the Remington, such as a pinned recoil lug, bolt sleeving, lug fitting, and firing pin bushing. Also installing a Jewel Trigger. That adds about $550 to the cost of around $2,000 +/-.

$7,600, really?

As a kid I drooled over Jarrett rifles (the Coup de Grace was the current series at the time) but working farm jobs and a gun store I never could afford one (like a druggy working in a pharmacy I spent $17K on guns in four years of high school). A friend, and talented machinist, who built his own guns told me that if I were going to pay over $2K for a "custom 700" I needed to look for a new smith (mid '90s). I finally realized I was going to have to use a "normal" gunsmith. In the long run it has saved me lots of money and produced some really good guns while helping out some guys who turned out to be real craftsmen.

sometimes people percieve value in price alone. I suspect thats the crowd that buys this stuff.

I am not a fan of Jarrett prices. Kenny does build 1st class rifles. Never had a desire for one though. I imagine I own things that folks would say I paid too much for also. I've had some automobiles----that says it all.
