This is the BTE. No doubt. Many sideroads have been taken to get to the page count we are at now. Here's another one. I'd post this on the freakshow, but I've little interest in what most of the posters up there would have to say.
You guys ever watch nature shows when you were young? I grew up watching "Wild America" with Marty Stouffer (yes I know there's some less than flattering facts that came out about his filming practices) but that's just a "for example." I'm no shrinking violet, I don't mind watching the predators catch the prey and the killing and eating and schit. But these new shows that are out are pretty phouced up. My kids like watching nature shows, and a couple weeks ago it was about a half hour before bedtime and I was cruising the channel guide looking for something to watch and there was a show about lions and cheetahs. Cool I thought.
Phoucing wrong. JHC it showed these 2 male lions catching and eating and tearing the phouc out of a whole bunch of cheetahs. I mean with the squealing and crying and schit it was phoucing disturbing.
Last night there was this show "Africa" on. It was about all the richness in variety of species and how the cope yada yada. Sounds pretty safe right? Phouc no. It showed these uber creepy cricket phoucing things crawling into a bird nest to eat the just hatched birdlings. The music they played, and the way it was all built up was just creepy as phouc.
Anybody else notice this schit? Probably one of the last people in NM to not have cable/satellite so I miss all the good stuff.

BGG, I see it as a good thing that they are showing nature the way it is, and it would be a good thing if kids watched it. The last two generations grew up in the sweetness and light of Disney productions, and have a REALLY screwed up view of how nature works... I guess I wasn't clear. The catching and killing and eating of things, or the territorial fights, etc are not what I'm objecting to at all. What bothers me is the focus and the way they are presenting the material. It's very dark. The lions eating the cheetahs was particulary disturbing dude. When I had young children in the house and they were all warm and fuzzy after watching " The Lion King" I made them watch a Nat. Geo. special on lions. The part where a new male kills the old pride leader, then hunts down and systematically kills every cub in the pride was disturbing....but I truly think kids need to know that end of it...it they are getting singing warthogs crammed down their throats, they should be getting a dose of truth too...

Pard shot an IM ibex off the Floridas this fall. Spotted 'em on day one and walked in and shot one on day 2. He's been on hunts in some rough country and related that this one was near the top. Very rocky/cliffy and everything pokes you...

Havent' had a drink yet.  Gonna venture outside and see if the front sight I ordered for my sone's #3 is tall enough to get it on paper. I'm stir phoucing crazy and bored out of my gourd.

My 5yo seems to dig the new nature shows. I've been a touch concerned because I agree with BGG in that they are 'dark', however he doesn't seem to mind. He might be interesting in his teens once I give him a long leash and a firearm or three...

If ya gotta have a coronary at least you could get it out of the way with a smile.  So, I went to the range and killed paper. Shot a 94 Trapper at 50 with some new loads, did OK but not spectacular. Never has been a spectacular shooter but it has offed a lot of deer, pigs and even a bobcat once. 2" at 50 yards is OK by me with a Williams aperture. It has done better with different bullets, I just don't feel compelled to make it shoot better than MOLTG. The second was the evil twin barrel of the hawg murderin' T/C Contender Carbine, in .30-30. It is a left twisted barrel and I loaded it 5 rounds ea. in 4 iterations, more or less at the same velocity with Sierra 150 gr. flat base spitzers. BLC-2, Varget, RX12 and RX15. As usual the RX 15 won the race. Fired center then went counter clockwise from the lower left. Any of it would do, groups running .75-1.1" or so. Set up with about a 150 yard zero and fired at 100. Weaver K2.5 ![[Linked Image]](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v298/muddler/Guns/IMG_2741.jpg) Then I did my Ruger 77/44 SS with the paper patch loads. 300 grains over a card wad and compressed load of Li'l Gun. Runs in the mid 1550-1600 fps range. I wore shorts, tennis shoes and a red tee shirt.

Well sonofabish.
I installed a new taller front sight on the .223 #3 and it still wasn't enough. With the rear sight bottomed out I'm still 4.5" high at 25, and off paper at 100. Phouc. That was with a .5 tall sight. I see Midway also carries a .530 from Marbles, and a .570 from Williams. That tallest one is likely what I need, but damn it looks fragile.
