Any of you cowboys have any experience shooting .41 mags? I know the ammo is [bleep] costly and not all that common.... For the life of me, I don't know why S&W doesn't make a 5 shot 41 mag on an L frame with a 4" half lug barrel. That would be about the perfect backcountry woods bumming hand-cannon. Of course my dash1 696 in 44 special doesn't suck either. Danny Boy....I know you got bear out your way...any big cats?

Yep... I think they call them cougars on the east coast.
Not too much problems with cats out here, although the recent increase of trail running as excercise, and it's just a matter of time before a jogger looks like a big ball of yarn to a kitty.
In all the years I've lived and played here in Montana, the only time I ever skinned a handgun in the sticks was in The Bob, when I encountered a very ill mannered Blue Heeler that belonged to an outfitter and was about a quarter mile ahead of his owner on the trail. We had a little mexican standoff until his human showed up...

Thanks Gruff, that little gun will be with me until the day they plant me  I'd love to find a 5" nose hammer 629. That gun is my unicorn...
