On alternate Saturday's only. Hank lucked out today. Haha! When my smith put the new barrel on he set the headspace pretty tight, so there is slight crush with factory rounds. The factory barrel was 40 thousandths off, which is my guess as to why it was in scheels. Might not have grouped all that well before.

Hunts', he was saving for the Henry but looked at the BL-22 and liked it a lot more. The kid has good taste....What can I say? There is a kinda economy model of the BL that is matte, oil instead of shiny and blue. If I was getting it to beat the brush with, that's the way I'd roll. Ol' Ben(mtcurman) usaes the hell outta a BL, as did his daddy before him......

So what's the verdict, Browning or Henry?
FWIW I got my boy a Henry, and I didn't feel bad hacking the stock down, and recently jb'ing it back. Good shooter, but the internals are pot metal. No complaints from me though.
Shop got in a BL-22 in the youth shortly after I got the Henry. I was kicking myself, because that Browning felt like a really neat well built (steel) piece, but was more that twice the price. He's going to get the BL-22. We both really liked the one we looked at.

I just inherited my father's Marlin 39 carbine, as well as his Ruger Bearcat.
That's a great pair. You'll like the carbine mo' betta than the ungainly full size. Handier, better balance and no curvacious grip. Phouc pistol grips on leverguns......

Your 'smith is an accuracy freak too? Little crush can be a good thing. .040" of air not so much. Friend of mine had a chamber cut like that and he wound up using 2 different shell holders. One was stock, the other ground down a few thou to accommodate different brass lots. Couldn't get quite enough setback on the shoulder for one of them. The joys of chasing accuracy...
I am..........disturbed.

Alla dis talk about Browning 22's has reminded me how much I want to replace the little SA I dumped years ago when I was on my 10-22 kick. Gonna make it happen, and soon...... And it ain't gonna be the one with the gold chickmumps and chit on it.
