That's good to know. There are those who claim the 1:9 will only stabilize bullets of 120 grains and less and I have a number of shorter 140-grainers that my 6.5BRM is not partial to.
Scott at Ramshot didn't have any load data for the 130 VLD, but recommended the load for the 129 Hornady with Hunter. 43-44 grains will get around 2,800 fps. Debating whether to mess with that or just go the tried and true H4350 (if I can get my hands on some!)

mtrancher congrats. My 1-10" stabilizes 140 Gamekings just fine. Shoots 120 nbt's great too. That is all I have used so far but am betting the 130 hobt I nearly went with would fly just fine too. I was reading another post where 1-10" would not shoot 120's and the Remington rep told him to use 140's and things improved against the common thinking. This very thing got me reading on Miller formula and Greenhill and JBM- evidently it isn't weight but bearing surface size that matters most- then speed.
Admitted novice- flame away.
Congrats on your 260- it will be your new favorite.

Brad, I wouldn't be surprised if the little 260 becomes your favorite. Had a 6.5x55 for years--they are essentially the same in the field. Arguably the best whitetail cartridge going and not bad on other stuff either.
I'm afraid I didn't check through all the pages...
...but the guys who shoot regularly in our long range matches are all doing very very well with 38 grains of Varget and 140's... no kidding... that's the load.

Hunting should never be used to compensate for poor long range shooting skills. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
Looking at the Ramshot load guide, they have Big Game and Hunter loads for the Hornady 129 grain SP interlock that are right at 2,700 fps. 41.0 Big Game and 43.5 Hunter. Pressure seems pretty low with both loads. I've emailed them to see what they recommend with the Berger 130 VLD Hunting as I'm going to use that in my .260 and I have an 8 lb jug of each powder.
Great thread here, guys!
I just ordered 5# of Hunter after talking to one of the guys at Ramshot. He thought their data was very conservative as it is only up to 55k psi. Anyway, hunter was the only suitable powder I could find anywhere, so I ordered some. I hope I can find a good load with it. With a burn rate between 4350 and 4831, it should be perfect. If I could find any magnum, I would give it a try too.

The 200 yard group at the upper left was with RL-19. Only reason I didn't hunt with that load was I wanted to try a Partition.

I use a 130 gr. Berger and reloder 17, start at 42.0 grs and work up from there. Remington brass and federal 210 primers, jammed this load shoots .3" at 100yds and handles my family freezer quotas . This gun was built for the prairie and is kinda heavy and kinda long ,14.5 lbs, and 30" barrel. But kicks like a sporter weight 22-250 and the wife can shoot it as well as I. Living in North Central Wyoming, the temperature swings a bit. 105 in the summer ,-10 in winter at times. When I adjust my drop charts to ambient conditions they are spot on. The velocity from the long barrel and reloder 17 is great, I won't quote because everyone will call B.S. , but its a good safe load in MY GUN. has taken some antelope and a Hog.
