Difference on the 270 gr 44 is pistol velocity v rifle velocity. Less is more so far as penetration. Is why I prefer CB Shorts for pigs over LR. The shorts don't expand or veer off track. Takes a lot of structure to stop them.
Most folks have a hard time wrapping their mind around that. BD...in essence, wouldn't these perform in the same manner but with a heavier projectile? CCI 22LR Copper Plated 40gr Round Nose I doubt that. The velocity difference is about 350 fps at the muzzle and the difference in performance is illustrated below. The first is a CB and the second a CCI SV LR both recovered from hogs. Both penetrated bone, but the CB went thru multiple layer while the LR did a single vertebrae. The reason for using solids in DGR on ele and such is fairly represented below in my opinion. Penetration is a matter of momentum and RETAINED sectional density.
