A friend asked me a question that is out of my limited knowledge base. Can a 30R Blaser barrel be converted to anything else? Is there a source for factory ammo?

Going to something like 300 Weatherby or 300 RUM would probably be pretty straigh-forward. Those are larger cases and each of the reamers would clean the 30R Blaser chamber up. With some more work, you could go to a shorter/smaller .30-caliber case - 300 Win. Mag, .30-06, or .308 Win.
What type of set-up does your friend have? I really like that cartridge and have always thought a falling-block chambered in 30R Blaser would be really cool.
Don't believe there is a source for factory ammunition here in the U.S. You can find RWS brass with some searching and dies can be had, as well.

He has a Merkel K1 Stalking rifle with a .270 win barrel and a 30R Blaser barrel that has never been used. I imagine shooting a 300Wby in that little rifle would get your attention?

He might go to the Blaser forum and strike up a trade for something he would like. Those guys buy, sell trade parts very actively. Jack. PS, they do other European brands also.
