PDA's break and get lost. The Intarweb is forever....
The cool thing is although I've been playing with how do do this for at least a month, these things tie quick. Literally half done now. Maybe even play around with the color a little more.
And besides, if anyone wants to try dyeing on their own, they might be able to piggy back on my notes.

So, Woolly Buggers made out of real wool? I hope they're not also made out of real boogers!

Crane fly larva, a la Frank Sawyer's Killer bug, with a little bit xtra.
I also decided the recipe above got too dark when wet, though it looked pretty darn good dry.
Added another 1/2 tsp to the mix, at near boil for 2 min.
I'll have to cut apart the 6 I tied Sunday.
FWIW, if anyone wants to duplicate the original Killer Bug, splitting the Paton's 00229 into thirds looks very darn close. If there really is a tad more pink in the original Chadwick's 477, then a quick rinse in the appropriate dye would clinch it, I'd think.
But, thinking about real live woolly Woolly Buggers makes sense in the size 14 I tie a lot. I've been using some sort of Hareline micro chenille that goes by "blah blah dubbing" of some sort. This wool would work just as well, and I now have a lifetime supply of light green (not quite caddis green)
You going to the Pleasanton show?

Don't destroy them. Just send along both for the Swap.
I don't know that it really matters what material is used for a WW body. I'm sitting on four shoeboxes of chenilles, so I don't think I'll need to look for a substitute anytime soon!
A size 14 Woolly Bugger? Isn't that called a Griffith's Gnat?
Doubt I'll make the Pleasanton show. BTW, there's a tying expo in Redding in early April. I got an invite to tie, but don't have the time this spring.

I'm tying my flies this weekend, then I need to know where to ship them out to.

Hey, I'm half way! Might still need to pray though......

Maybe it's time now to organize a Swap for procrastinators. Due date is June 2016, if that's not too early for y'all ...

Don't blame me. It's all in the hands of these guys-- Neither rain, nor sleet, nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.

There's still time to become a procrastinator. Do it tomorrow.
