Any of you dudes ever fire, own, borrow, etc the inexpensive Charter Arms Bulldog in .44 spcl? Weapon of choice by one David Berkowitz back in the day..... Not a charter arms, but the pistol in the pix with the porcupine is a ported Titanium Taurus chambered for the 44 special. Used it w/ hard cast lead to take the porky. GWB

Not much of an endorsement. Elmer....since it appears you are building a collection, a couple of tips which will be a positive influence on later years. a) Go long on quality. That means established names and a good rep for reliability. Quirky is risky. b) Buy stuff you'll use until you have the bases covered, then you can dabble in the weird, unusual and esoteric. Or even wildcats. See "a" above. I bought an M1 Carbine a few years back, ran it at the range several times, developed loads and it's sitting a row or two back in the safe. It shoots about 2 MOA and cost...I dunno really....$800 which included the original box and papers, a second stock, a syn-folder, 4-30 round mags and 4-15 round mags, and a dozen boxes of factory ammo. At the gunshow on Saturday I saw two M1's for sale. $2500 and $4500 respectively. I'm at the place where I can dabble with the odd, weird and pointless, none of which will ever be aimed at an azzhole.

Seems like I remember those Bulldogs had a rep for pretty stiff recoil. Were the frames on those things steel or alloy?
