I've been lurking around the campfire in the shadows for some time and finally have my own question to ask, so I became a member today. Does anyone know what years the Savage 99 was made in 32-40? I have one I can potentially buy, but very limited info on it at the moment (i.e. no serial number or pictures yet). It's a friend of my aunt's so I may be able to pick it up cheap. Just trying to understand the approximate year(s) this could have been built.
Thanks, dgunnut

Off the top of my head, I think the 32-40 was introduced in 1900 or 1901, discontinued close to WWI. If you need more specific info wait around and one of the guys with good data will show up to answer it.

Got a copy of the September, 1903 Hunter-Trader-Trapper magazine that talks about how the Savage 25-35/32-40/38-55 are getting a "enthusiastic reception". Thanks, Don. So much for my memory.

Thanks for the quick response guys, it seems like based on the responses it's most likely in the neighborhood of 1903-1917, so I'll go with that for now. If/when I find out more about the gun I will let you know.
One follow-up, what is Murray's, is that a book about the Savage 99? I apologize for my ignorance in advance.
Thanks, Daryl

Thanks for clarifying about the book. Next question is regarding ammo and reloading components for the 32-40. Anyone have much familiarity with this round? Where to start for ammunition/reloading components?
