If somebody is seriously fiending for some RL-15, I've got about 1.5lb of the stuff. I could use some 7828ssc or 4350 of either flavor.

Pretty piece of artillery there my friend. Were I building that I'd put a Neidner steel butt plate on it, but that's just me. Have you gutted any song dogs with it?

Killed one coyote and a cow elk with it.

RL15 rocks. That discussion is over. Varget can SMD.

Lee hand loaders rock. Don't listen to ingwe's snobbish comments.

Lee is, like, you know, kinda odd. Some of their chitt is way cool, some of it is junk.

Never fooled with their presses of any sort. Somehow, the idea of naming a hand press "Lee" gives me the creeps. They coulda called it something else, like "Sharon", "Julia", "Ingrid"....any-phoucin'-thing except Lee.

They still allow stuff like this to be shipped to Colorado?

I love RL15. I could snort an entire pound and use the open end of the cannister when I'm finished.

Travis

I'll see your RL15 and raise you some Varget...

Really pretty much Hodgdon's RL15...

I love Varget and it's damn near perfect in everything I shoot at the moment...

My buddy's a big RL15 fan and shoots about the same cartridges I do.

I wanted to love Varget, but it just didn't get me off. Always did well, but not GREAT. RE15 does GREAT...for me. Gets me off in a manner of speaking. Actually, truth be known, it gets my bullets off, lickety split, zoom-zoom, on the dot and what not. 1/4 bore Bob will go light speed with RE15 and the 75 VMAX or 85 BT.

So I burned up the Varget on cast lead rejects to set up fools needing to part with their money at the range.

Gas gun shooters are usually the easiest pickings. They see a 4" group at 50-100 yards and think they can beat it. They can sometimes. If you act like Gomer Pyle (sincerely) you can actually raise the stakes fairly high. That's when the real chitt gets loaded in case you didn't see it coming.

Matter of fact I'm pretty much a slut for Alliant stick powders across the board, but admit I've not used them all. RE7, 10, 12, 15, 19, 22, 25 is as far as I've gone with it.

I also use a lot of Li'l Gun, 2400, 4227, Int'l Clays, 4350, 231, Bullseye, H380, H335, Unique, Blue Dot, Red Dot, Forehead Dot etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.......and on and on and on.

Always wanted to try some of the Ramshot powder line but have too much of the other chitt to use...one of these days...

BD

Interesting, BD. I Had just the opposite...

In every single case I got better accuracy and velocity from Varget vs. RL15. Now sometimes the gain was hardly worth noticing and other times it was significant. Ether way it made it worth it to consolidate my powders on the bench and buy bulk Varget.

I did use RL17 in the 6.5-284 and it was terrific. Next closest was Magpro and H100V (couldn't find that stuff regularly).

I've used various Accurate powders but Big Game really seems to be the cat's ass in my .375 Bernie and the 9.3x62.

Still messing with TAC in the .223 Straight. Last weekend the Varget outshot the TAC, group wise, but I wasn't able to chrony it.

I really appreciate the thought. I will use up the last of my RE15 stash approximately 12 years after my last coronary, or stroke, whichever comes first. That's gonna happen a fair spell after I use up my BP stash, which may last to the end of time.

If I had a job like scenarshooter's where temp stability was a huge part of being successful in the field, I'd definitely look into using Varget. But, I also found that '15 was pretty resistant when shooting it around 0 degrees and snowing like a mofo (calling SamO).

Guess it just comes down to which way your dong hangs.

FWIW, '15 pushed 178s around 2740 in my 26" 308.

Oh yeah, Vargay sucks. In every case I've tried it in, H4895 or RE15 did better.

At the golf course I work at, we've got a few of those little bastards. I've seen them carrying gophers like in that picture... pretty cool little dudes.

Yeah, shooting in -40 degree temps ain't for me, either! Truth be told, it's just one more thing to have fun arguing over. If you switched out my Varget for RL15 or that was all I could get, I wouldn't hesitate a second to use it.

That said I guess my schlong is dangling to the Varget...whichever way that is.

When I get my chrony fixed/replaced I can check my speed on the SMK's with a full load of Varget. Just going off my drops at 500 I was close to mid-2700's with a 24".

I REALLY need to get a chrony back! Want to see what the .223 is doing with the 75's and what the .308 is spittin those 155 Scenars at...
