Finally got a revolver: S&W 686+ 3 inch 357.
Any recommendations for a S&W 686+ 3 inch holster?
I just want a general carry holster with a hammer strap that fits a 3 inch barrel not a four inch.
I will get a cheap one for a back up that fits a 3-4 inch barrel but I also want a good fitting one for a shorter 3 inch.

When you find one, let me know. I just bought a 3 inch 686 with the 7 shot cylinder and I love it. One of the main reasons for selling my Python is how great this 686 really is. I want a leather/lined holster, not a cordura, so if you find 2 let me know...

Someday I am going to order one of these for my revolver. I don't think you would need a strap, but he will put one on!

Might check with Bulldog leather.
I know Randy makes a "kit" holster, that you wet mold yourself, if he dosen't have a "mold gun" to make it.
I got one for my Beretta 84, in a "summer special" IWB and wet molded it myself. Turned out GREAT.

I just bought that same exact model and the only holster I could find that fit it so far was this: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/14...6pd-581-586-681-686-3-barrel-leather-tanI ordered it and it fits very well. I think I'm going to find somebody to make me one that will hang more like the Bianchi lawman that I use for my Blackhawk.

I bought it because I wanted to take the gun with me while doing some work around my lease, and it was the only holster I could get quickly that fit it. On their website, Desantis says they offer the same holster lined, but it has to be special ordered. I may just find someone to make one for me.

Try Ray at lobogunleather.com, he made me both an IWB and a pancake holster for my 3", great products at fair prices.

WPAH,
I've had hundreds of holsters over the 50 + years I've been carrying handguns both for on and off duty (48 years) in the PD and for hunting. I prefer Milt Sparks (when I could afford them) and still use them often. However, since I am always buying and trading guns for my personal use I find that there are other holster makers who make decent holster. Lately the past few years I been using a holster made by H.C. Leather. He is found on EBAY. I bought his holsters for field carry. I have one he made for my 3" L frame 686+. It is a canted drop with strap. It is all had made with great leather. I also have one for my J frame 3" 22lr along with a few for my Ruger Blackhawks. For the quality and price I would have to say its the best buy for me. I have pictures I could send you if you want. I can't get them to download on this site. Text me at 248-880-7047 and send them to you.

Original thread began in 2013. I bet the OP found a holster by now.

http://shop.simplyrugged.com/ecommerce/Sourdough-Pancake-.cfm?item_id=151&parent=669 I ordered that exact holster for my 686+ 3", along with his Chesty Puller harness. I sold the revolver and the rig is collecting dust - let me know if interested...
