Tiz easy.....Strip old finish with Zip Strip- just say "no" to sandpaper. Steam the dents up, whisker the wood , rub down with steel wool, start applying THIN coats of Antique Minwax or Tru-oil,go over with 4 ought steel wool between coats, keep adding coats till you are done( may take 20+) If its too shiny, rub with automotive rubbing compound, and finish by buffing with a clean rag. Voila!

I a stock refinish project and need to ask.. What is whiskering the wood?
Got any suggestions for lightening wood that has darkened from gun oil?

Other than that, How was the show Mrs. Lincoln?

When you strip the finish, or, if you sand, it will make wood fibre stand up like whiskers. You can't see it, but they are there. Lot of ways to get the whiskers gone. Some old timers use a smooth chunk of antler to take them down. Some will buff the wood. Lots of ways.
I have to respectfully disagree with the Poobs on the steel wool thing. Anymore it seems to come apart and leave fibres in the finish. High quality 3M pads seem better, for me anyway.
Not sure what to do about the oil soaked wood?

How did the new Combination Guns/Drilling Forum get a sub-title of GFY? Is 'flave now moderating over there? If so, GFY you nuthugger.

Just sayin'.

Yeah, I'd bang that, even with the airbag.

Now if she tried to flip over on me and pull off a Spiderman, that would be a deal breaker.

Anyway, this t-shirt sorta shocked me......funnier than schit, but shocked me.
