No more than on any other forum. There is very little patience for mall ninjas and tacticool type on m4carbine.net.

WeaponEvolution.com is another very informative forum.

Too many wanna-be "Tac-tic-ool" guys, or armadillo hatted alarmists, for me anyway, and had similiar experiences on AR15dotcom. I cruise by once in awhile, but not often anymore. I hung out there before I found the Campfire.

Better thinkers, better first-hand information, and just in general, more fun to be on here than other sites, JMO.

Gotta disagree with that to a certain extent. (directed at George)

I found the place (M4) not too long ago, and have spent some time over there recently. In the past 3 months or so, I've had one moderator warn me twice about something I posted. Both times were beyond lame.

The first incident was regarding a rifle I had purchased through a place called Clyde Armory. I felt I got screwed on the deal (still do), and asked about their reputation. Guy locked my thread and sent me a warning email. http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=119284

Then today, somebody posted that Tango Down had the iocovers in stock. I went to buy one and after registering on their website, going through all the checkout stuff, I get a quote of $13+ for shipping. I posted that I thought that was pretty high for a $28 product that probably weighs a couple of ounces. Guess what...warning! Apparently I've been a bad boy over there.

Ultimitely, it's their house, so their rules, but man... They'd have a chit fit if they saw how Rick "moderates" the Fire.

There's more koolaid drinking and group thinking going on at m4 than any other place on the innernets.

There's good info there, no doubt. But you won't feel especially comfortable until you spend $3K on an AR, optic and plate carrier to shoot at paper 50 yards away.

I stopped wasting my time on m4carbine.net and ARF15.com at about the same time. Way too many whizzin' matches, usually concerning milspec and the latest boutique rifle.

Probably right. Like I said, it's their site, so they can do what they want. It just seems odd that I'm on a whole bunch of websites and never had any problems, but twice in the last few months I've had my hand slapped over there.

That was the response from the mod to my question about Clyde Armory's reputation.

Pretty humorous since I've been building rifles and tinkering with them for probably the last 10 years or more, not to mention shooting them since I was dang near old enough to walk.

I love the "operator" sites. They're good for a laugh every now and then. I never knew commandos spent so much time on the internet until I visited that place.

I agree it seem most on M4 claim to have been a Seal, Special Forces, or "can't talk about it". But they're all real operators who have all "seen the elephant".

Funny... Ya the place is beyond strict. There is some good info and there are some real deal operators that visit the site pretty often mostly to plug their training dates but real deal none the less.

My problem is for every guy like Larry Vickers who was a Delta operator and post' there, there's a thousand guys who have never been there or even seen that, giving useful advice like "use the search feature".

I use to be pretty active there until arfcom guys flooded it and created the mood there now. And yes never dis a sponsor!

I used to visit M4 a lot, but not much anymore. Lightfighter is loaded with the tactical types, but more of them have actually BTDT---------at least that's the impression I get. They police their own pretty well too IMO, and guys will get called out for talking out of their azz. Swampman wouldn't survive long there.......

BTW, Vickers was Delta, not SEALs.

I haven't spent much time on M4 but do use ar15.com some. As long as you stay in the Tech forums on ARFCOM its ok. Sometimes the occasional idiot will pop in but there is tons of good info on that site. They also have local forums for each state which is very helpful.

However, if you use any big site you will get the occasional mall ninja or armchair expert. You just have to have thick skin and filter through the bad info and immaturity.

What little experience I have at other AR-oriented forums was not impressive. I'd ask a question about a malfunction and get about 10 useless replies. I eventually figured out the problem myself. Here you can ask a question and useually within the first 2 or 3 replies you'll get some good info.

I signed up for M4Carbine.net fully six months ago. When I discovered that I could not post, I sent the webmaster a PM. I got no answer, so I sent another pleasant PM. And another and another.

Friends, I surely was not a leading gun/handloading writer, but one would think that M4Carbine would have at least have allowed me to post.

I deleted M4Carbine from my "favorites" a few days ago. Perhaps it is a totally closed cyber-society or maybe it is mis-managed. That remains a mystery ... I will never know.

Blessings,

Steve
