Blammer pointed me to some molds that have an option of brass or aluminum.
Never heard of brass before.

I've got alum. .54 cal round ball molds that I've been using for a while

brass are good ones, but they are heavy.

the alum ones you are seeing at NOE's site are NOT the Alum you know when you speak of Lee moulds. Those two types of Alum are night and day difference.

I have both, brass and the alum ones, I like both, neither better than the other, and they both work very well.

Blammer, how much tougher are the brass molds than the alum ones. being on the coast brass sounds good, I've just never held one.

brass is about as tough as steel

bein on the coast you'd only have to worry about the spur plate and a few screws rusting.

I find brass can be finicky about temperature, i.e. it won't cast good bullets if too cold or too hot. Even though I have several brass molds, it is my least favorite material for a mold.

And just like women, some are easy going and some you never know what they want.

I guess you could say brass molds are like redheads. The can be down right beautiful and a split second later drive you nuts.

Mihec molds are wonderful enough to put up with the brass personality, but I prefer brunettes.
