Thanks guys.

Camera can't capture the scope of these things. Prairie cloud formations and storms are cool as [bleep].

I tried to put six posts in the ground for a new coop.. When I got to 10 lbs of clay hanging off of each boot, I decided it was Bloody Mary time.

2 days of good rain here, and not letting up. We needed it bad.

Gruff, great pics! Used to see that years back when I lived in OK. Here in the Windy State we seldom see isolated storms like that so you don't always get the visual impact.

Hail....sucks.

Will trade you clay for solid limerock. We don't use shovels here, we use a 6' steel pike with a chisel bit on one end and a spike on the other. Forget what that's properly called, was always a "Key Largo Shovel" to me. Weighs about 25#. Steel boots aren't a bad idea...

"Windy State...."

Bwahahahahahaha! laugh

Ask BGG about wind...or eh76...or Flave...or Sammo. Where they live, if the wind quits blowing, the cows all fall down! grin

Spud bar.

Out in the hills the ground turns to concrete when it dries up. We have a 12 or 15" post hole auger mounted on a 3 point. Even with a fairly sharp bit it won't dig in some spots once you get about 2' down. Fill the hole with water and wait a day or two and try it again.

Ingwe, wind? Never blows here....grin

WP ain't too bad, I couldn't handle living on the eastern front. As you know Livingston on up through Harlo and north is beyond windy!

We rented a 2 man auger, got down 1 foot before it bounced off the clay. Don't know anyone out here with an attachment, so the spud bar went into action.

Fun times.
