I just bought some Hornady 225 gr. 2nds. to use as low recoil practice loads. In trying to research data, I noticed in the latest Hornady manual some reduced loads for the 375 Dakota. Judging from the case dimensions, the Ruger and Dakota appear to be of similar capacity. So, I am wondering if the reduced load data would be safe for the 375 Ruger. Or, what about using cast bullet data fron the Lyman book?

Any ideas/experience would be appreciated.

Try a load of 'Trail boss' powder.
Here is the IMR site and how to use this powder. Great for reduced loads in about any caliber.

Thanks. I will try Trail Boss when I get the chance. For the time being I did go ahead and load some with IMR 4759 (had it on hand) per the 375 Dakota data. I haven't been to the range yet so I can't comment on how good it works.

Just loaded some Trailboss loads for my 35 Whelen, 1500 fps with a 200 gr Hornady Spirepoint with mild report and recoil. Need to try that in my 375 Ruger sometime too.

I loaded 33 gr. IMR 4759 under the 225 gr. Hornadys. Velocity is about 1900 and they shoot great although about 4" lower at 100 yd. compared to my full power loads. Good enough for off hand/shooting stick practice.
