OK, back from my pilgrimage to the Great White North...

This was the 'basic' fish, about 5 pounds...we caught literally hundreds of them..

[Linked Image]

Then there were a few like this...

And a very few like this...caught by Ingwewife ( of course!)

[Linked Image]

Tackle choice was 5 and 1/2 foot ultralight Shimanos with Shimano Sedona 750 size reels ( also ultralight.) 10 lb Fireline...a variety of spoons and spinners...they werent picky grin

I love catching pike.

And can't beat the big flakey fillets for shore lunch.

Looks like a good trip, Tom.

Beats our spring fed lake in Ontario. All we caught were 15 to 19 inch LM bass, about 3-4 per hour. Pike were a bit scarce. I think you should rent a bus in Harrisburg Pennsylvania this fall and pick us all up along the way on the Route 80,90,94, path. I'll pay for half of the fuel. Nice trip ingwe. Ray

You're gonna hate this part. One evening, with exactly 90 minutes to fish, Ingwewife and I were counting....caught 104 pike. Do the math...that was literally as fast as you could haul them in and unhook them, which we usually do boatside with a Baker hook-out.

I've experienced pike fishing like that in the Northwest Territories.

However, I have given up telling anybody because few would believe me... unless they had been up there themselves, that is.

However, just in the general spirit of the 'Fire, let me be the first to call bullshit on your wild tale! wink

We had an evening like that once on a portage lake that was part of a fly-in. Highlight was having one loose in the 4 inches of water in the bottom of the leaky 12-foot boat already being occupied by the three of us. Two of us were engaged in the "grab it" rodeo while the third just went on hauling them in.

And Murphy's Law of pike fishing would dictate that at least ONE tackle box was sitting on the bottom of the boat open while the rodeo was in progress !!

I've not yet learned that lesson completely and have had more than one spastic hoe handle dump EVERYTHING out of my tackle box.
