a little off topic, but if you want a good cheap item to use for an attached rest for a 22 or thin stocked rifle.. try one of these....

as you can see from the picture, it attaches easily and is easily removed... gives a solid rest on about anything.. even a rustic fence post like pictured...

and there is all sorts of lengths they are available in...

The above item has a price tag of $2.50 from the Sportsman's WhoreHouse....

if ya can't figure out what it is, they are the pads that you slip on the canoe gunnels when you put a canoe on top of your car....

I've got some I have been using for 20 years around here....

work both well 'at the range' and ' out in the field' as shown.. this is a Marlin 917 with a factory synthetic stock in 17 HMR... this is from the first time I took Seafire Jr out with me and let him shoot this instead of his beloved 10/22/......

Funny how things happen,"Nothing by mistake" I haven,t seen a 22 Mag. post in a long time. A couple of years ago I picked up a 938 22 Mag in SS with a Nikon Scope with a laminate stock. I haven,t used it in a while & forgot how much fun it is to shoot & how accurate it is. On Friday I took my 18 year old Grandson & his girl friend to the range. She had never shot before so I snapped her in for about 10 minuets just to give her an idea. We shot from 100 yds with CCI 30 gr. We each shot 12 rounds. We had two FTF so we put 34 down range. We had 34 on a 10x10 target. Best I could count 13 bulls,10 in the 4 ring the rest in the 3 & 2 ring. My Grandson is a really good shot I have had him shooting since he was 5 or 6. But I was shocked that his friend was on target with all 12. What a fun rifle to shoot & a tack driver. You can,t beat the Marlin,s & at a great price.

And it's the model of .22 Magnum I've always liked the best....
