I got hyper(right before the last rain) and made a dozen or so in the 20-30% range, might be fun unrolling those this Winter.

Schit if I get a reading near 20% we'll wait 1-2 hours,25% and more it's the next day when it's baled. In the background you can see the top of the rake. It's a double windrow (2 windrows into 1).

Will wet bales ferment and get hot? You bale up the right stuff and it can catch itself on fire...Seen hops in piles ( not bales) smoldering more than once....

Will wet bales ferment and get hot? If you're just borderline the (baled)hay will 'cure' and get sort of a tobacco smell to it which cows love. Too wet and it will literally turn to black, nasty, moldy chit. I have heard of haystacks that started to smolder from within', AKA stack burn, not good! The stuff I was baling was dry on top but too wet on bottom of the windrow. The dry stuff might soak in the excess moisture and average out, still not something you want to try and do.

Hops baled much over 10% won't just smolder, they will cook off and burn the whole fuggin' warehouse down. Prices get a lil' wonky when that happens.

Your tractor costs more than our farm! Mathman this is a "1 ton" bale. I'm 6' 1" and those bales are up to my shoulder and 8' long and about 3'+ wide. When I check for moisture I do the side 3 times, end, middle, end then the front, then the other side. High moisture (green) in the bale will ferment and rot.

I figured it was something like that.
I don't know anything about hay, but I have read a bit about processing cigar tobacco leaves. Part of the process is piling the leaves in bulks and allowing them to heat to the right temperature. When the temp is right, the bulk is turned inside out and allowed to heat again. Good cigar tobacco goes through several of these sweats.

I've heard that pot will smoke no matter what you do with it, to it or even if moldy. Even seaweed burns down this way. Dopers have no standards whatsoever.

I typed a serious reply using terms like slow release and fill stroke, but I decided there could be too much context manipulation in the BTE.

SamO-
How you liking your G15? You use the video function much?
I'm in need of a decent camera. Old one is MIA and the wife is set to birth my first born in a few months.
Nice trick with H4350. Betcha ya can't do it again.

Mathman, I was emptying the excess back into the jug(real quick-like) that must have done it! Good thing I don't use IMR4831....grin
MadMooner, it's a sweet little camera. Not great for long range shots but pretty nice for an everyday use camera, easy to pack along.
Video works great, it's in stereo/high-def which is sweet but does take alot longer to download onto to youtube. Loading onto the computer is still fast though.
That powder was really wedged!
I'm gonna go run the 243 over the Chrony.
Any ideas for speed with 90 grain bullets(22")? Not even sure where velocity 'should' be.

Took the Featherweight 7mm Mauser out and ummm Ingwe is going to be PISSED! it shot the 160 gr Sierra better than the 162 gr Hornady's.
Think I'll go underground until Ingwe forgets who I am.
