Has anyone seen one of these? I would really like to know how the do in low light compared to a good z5 or z6 or Nightforce.

The VX-6 is a great scope.

When you get beyond the VX-6 2-12x44, they start getting pretty heavy.

What's the weight of this one?

On a big gun, who cares. And that's probably where a high powered glass like this will be used.

34mm tube, covered turrets, 23.7 oz, $1800, I'm sure this would be a great scope. The Nightforce NXS are around 37oz

That's better than what I was thinking.

Personally, I'd rather have one of those than a NXS.

Nightforce has a following and they are big, tough scopes. To me, they're way too heavy and complicated. They're set up for the LR target crowd, and I'm a hunter and shooter. All those complex reticles do nothing for me. I'd want a VX-6 duplex with a turret.

Wouldn't surprise me if the VX-6 glass isn't better than Nightforce glass. Now, that may open a can of worms... blush

Well most find that VX-3 glass is better than NXS glass. Word is that the new Nightforce 2.5-10x42 has a glass upgrade along with the "Beast" and ACTAR.

Nothing ever stays constant with optics as everybody has to improve or get left in the dust. grin

John,

Didn't you guys have a deal with Leupold for your windage reticle, along with an elevation turret?

I never examined one, but thought that was a neat arrangement. If one could have such a set up with the VX-6 series, that could get interesting...

The VX-6 3-18 with John's reticle would be the PERFECT hunting scope and would buy 2 tomorrow!! What say u Mr Burns? Any plans in the works?

I (we) wish you the best and hope you push enough sand up hill to make it happen.

Keep pushing and keep up posted.

Amen to that. I was thinking either the 3-18 or 4-24 would be perfect with Johns reticle. I hope this happens I know id buy at least two.

If he can get it done, I think he'll do well selling them.

What do u guys think of the varmint hunter reticle in the 4-24 for long range steel/big game ? Thinking u could mess with the sub tensions and figure out yardages for quick shots and still use the cds dial and center duplex for long shots. Nice to have the finer duplex for long range precision but still have the illumination feature for low light shots whether it be close or far. Just that damn 34 mm tube and the 28 oz weight.

What say u?

Big ole scope, but I'd rather have it than a Nightforce, which is even heavier.

An S&B like Scenarshooter uses would probably be better, but the VX-6 will be a lot cheaper. It could become real competitive with LR target/hunting scopes in general. I think John's set up could make it even more competitive, if Leupold will listen.

DF ... I agree 100% but I'm ready to buy now. Giving on a 6 lb.4 oz gun so maybe I'll just stick with the 3-18x44 fire dot and save the big dog for the 7mag thats next on my list.

Yeah, not your light gun scope, for sure... smile

But a hoss on a big, LR gun... cool
