I really appreciate the review of the Meopta 6x42 in the latest Rifle Looney news.

Good to hear! Meopta makes very good stuff.

Yep I liked it two, now if I can just find one, the usual suspects that carry the line have all but. I am thinking about putting one on my 338 WM. But I very well may just go with an Aimpoint.

I just wish Meopro adjustment dials were a bit more sophisticated.

I suspect that might help sales over here, at least a little, but I'm willing to put up with a little less sophistication if the adjustments are dead solid. Have been known to add my own yardage marks to dials.

I purchased four of my six Meopta 6x42's from Doug at Cameraland. Mule Deer's review made me feel much better about the investment.

I just purchased one of the new 3.5X10X44 RD (ill reticle) models. It'll be here next week. I'll let you know.

Do Google phoo on Meopta and Midway, SWFA, and Sport Optics pop up. Several folks carry the brand however the prices may not be as economical as other providers.

Doug sells the Meopta 6X42 that has been taken out of the box, but not used, for $399.99.

Just bought one myself yesterday evening.

And Doug is great to do business with.

I also found it fascinating. I'm going to look them over carefully.

Well all I do, is zero in at 200 yards and call it good. I don't bother with this turret business. Some like it I guess.

My educated guess is that it would. But as with any new product, we'll know more after they've been on the market a while longer.

You could be the first to test one on a .338!

I'm interested in that scope and look forward to hearing your impressions about it.

Returned Sunday and the scope was waiting for me. Had it out at dusk yesterday behind my house where I have my 75 yard test target/spray painted doe to look like a leopard as well. Alongside I had my Z6 1.7X1X42, Zeiss Victory 2X10X50 and Duralyt 2X12X50 (ill reticle). Set them all to 3.5X and I can see NO discernible difference in sharpness or image quality. Glass is just superb. I tried several other power ranges trying to keep the exit pupil the same in all the scopes to keep it somewhat even. Again no differences. Great glass. Much trimmer lighter scope than the Duralyt and the choice there is clear when it comes to weight, appearance and price for the illuminated option: Meopta

Things I would have preferred differently:
1. I don't care where the light rheostat is, I much prefer the Zeiss or Swaro placement on the ocular lens.

2. Adjustment knobs have a weird, triangle shaped gizmo that makes it a bit awkward to adjust, but once it's done not a problem. Also the knob covers up the click lines. It's just a bit cumbersome.

3. Cross hairs in the center are very thin, too thin for me (like the Z6s), but the lighted reticle mitigates that problem.

4. Instruction manual SUCKS as do the cheap, lens covers. The scope needed some serious focus adjustments, but let me tell you guys once it's focused, it is CRYSTAL CLEAR.

Bottom line: For the MONEY and VALUE, it's the best of the lot.

I am waiting on delivery of a 3x12x56 IR with a second focal plane german #4 with red dot. I plan to compare to a Kahles 3.5 x 10 x 50 I am currently using on that rifle. The Kahles has the thin reticle which has been a problem from time to time. I am also interested in the Meostar 7 x 56 fixed power IR which may be brighter than the variable, close focus on the fixed power is 15 meters which could be an issue.
