So tell me little more about your VarTarg. I have a triple deuce with a shot out tube that I am planning on converting to the VT. Any pitfalls to be aware of?

CR,
Off the top of my head, no, none. It's efficient and easy to load for.
I stock up on 221 Fireball brass. Just run it through the sizing die. I like the 32 grainers in the Vartarg. Sierra blitz @ 32 grains work best in my Cooper Varminter, followed by 32 gr. V-max, 33 gr. Bergers and J Calhoon 33 grainers.
Best

PS: Just thought of two things some might consider to be a negative.
Only Cooper to my knowledge chambers a factory rifle in the 20 VT,
and
to my knowledge, no factory ammo (neither present a problem for me).
Thanks. You have confirmed what others told me in that the VT is not too fussy to load for and the Sierra's are a good starting point. Looking like I need to get off the pot and get this done. I already have a FireBall also, so I have several hundred new cases on hand.
CR, You did not specify what action or mfg. of your deuce. The 20 VT has as its parent case the 221 fireball. Some folks like Remington add a spacer in the magazine to achieve feeding. I had a 17 mach IV in a Riihimaki, and due to the nature of the clip/detachable mag, loading could be tricky if you were wearing gloves or were in a hurry. I'd discuss the feeding issue with your gunsmith. If its a single shot like the Cooper model 21, no problem.
Gotta work in a SUX action? Why you want a repeater bolt for gophs and bunnies? Is you a bad shot?
Poobs, is time you got equipment appropriate to you station in life. A good Low Wall action, nice piece of wood (or two) properly crafted can be a light wand with good reach....Elks gave you a clue.
.22 K-Hornet. Thank us later.

RL 7 and 4198. Have you tried any other powders?
did a little with Tac and Lil' Gun,
Thinking I'd tried Reloader 10X, but did not see any groups during a quick look at some targets. But, then I've slept since I shot the VT, so Quien Sabe

Thanks for the info. Yeah its a .222 SUX, but I usually run my varmint rigs as single shots with a magazine follower so feeding is really a non issue.
Well Mr. Ingwe are you going to get a .222 or a .221 Fireball? Still think a .22-6mm is the way to go,you can sit and shoot gophers and bunnies as far as the eye can see, without getting up from your chair.
