Oh, yeah. This pistol is planning to STAY a .460, my other 1911 (so far) gets to be my designated .45ACP. When messing with the slide stop just after I got it back, I knocked it out of the notch on the slide and ended up with the fleshy part of the little finger on my left hand "caught" between the end of the slide and the compensator. Damn thing had me in a death grip like an alligator snapping turtle! Thought I'd have to cut the finger off for awhile to get loose - and it hurt!
Just racking the slide against that spring is really good exercise, but hell, if it was easy, anybody could do it!

Got a chance to shoot it a couple of times Tuesday - literally! I was checking my feeders and game cameras and we got a real downpour! It finally slacked for just long enough for me to send a couple at the target, then started again. As much as I wanted to shoot, though, we REALLY needed the rain, so I'm OK with it. I can report that the rumors of recoil with the comp being no more than a .45ACP are apparently true. Also, the comp is LOUD. I forgot to put on my muffs before the first shot, and it rang my ears pretty good. I really couldn't see the bullseye very well in the rain, wasn't trying for accuracy, but from the way the saplings "bowed" down near the target stand, I was pretty close.
Next trip - hopefully this weekend - I'll put it on my Bulls Bag pistol rest and see if I can "dial it in". Got hogs wanting to be shot, need to oblige them.

Just realized I had already posted about shooting the .460. Sorry, I think I've been dreaming about it! That, and ants. I spent yesterday spraying the damn "crazy ants" that are trying to take over our part of the earth!

No, they are little bitty ants, like a sugar ant. They like to use extension cords or water hoses for "highways", and are found in large numbers. They get in electrical outlets and boxes and mess them up bad. A lady last week told me they eat fire ants, though, so they may not be all bad. We haven't had a single fire ant hill this summer - just fighting the crazy ants. Houston TV station is gonna feature them on the news tonight. Suckers are real hard to get rid of.
