Considering having my .35 Remington Super 14 barrel w/factory brake re-chambered to the JDJ. Any opinions on powders and bullets would be greatly appreciated!

It's primary use will be a general season antlerless elk hunt and bears over bait.

Minus the brake and chamber you have less than 10" of rifled barrel. The 35/444 is a rimmed 358 but you still have basically a 40 CUP pressure gun. Bellm came up with a nice upgrade for the 35 Rem. Cut the rim area of the chamber to take 30/40 or 303 brass then form in your 35 Remington die set. You get a 35 Rem Rimmed... always nice in a single shot. Nosler no longer offers a 180 357 partition. I would think this would be like a V-8 in a go-cart, lots of noise and smoke for very little return. I could see a custom 358/444 full length barrel, but that brake is not helping the performance one bit.

i shoot it in a 14"SSK barrel; last notes show i was using 46.0gr Re-7 with Hornady 200's.

you may have seen this link before, but here is a good link for .35shooters....lot of bullets here applicable, since .35rem rifle velocities are close to .358jdj pistol speeds.

i've shot a few hogs, and a few deer with my SSK...great caliber..

I knew it would affect performance a bit but didn't think taking an inch and a half off the barrel would matter THAT much. It didnt seem to with my Waters barrel.

I prefer my 358 ALPO for numerous reasons. Most related to making cartridges. It is a 444 based round and the dies are a 35 Whelan Brown.

I really am hording my 180 grain Handgun Partitions. Such a great bullet. I have used them in my 358 Win for over a decade.

It is sad Marlin never put one of the 444/358's in their lever guns.
