A buddy of mine bought a Ruger American 30-06 for his adult but petite daughter. He asked if I knew of any youth stocks available for that rifle. I told him I'd do some checking. Is anyone aware of any youth stocks for it or is he going to have to have it cut down? Thanks in advance.

You both might already be aware of it, but Ruger makes the American in a compact version that has a shorter barrel and a downsized stock with shorter LOP. I don't know if Ruger sells them separately, but it's worth a call to them to find out.

The website only lists compacts in short action chamberings, so I doubt that stock would work.

Ooof. For some reason I was thinking that the actions were the same length.

I checked the specs on the compact earlier. They are on a short action. I talked to my buddy. He says he just needs to buy another rifle. My kind of guy. Said he would buy the 308 compact for the daughter and keep the 30-06 for himself.
