My FIRST introduction to 'Po city was on my 1st Class Middie cruise. Some of the JO's took us under their wings and took us to some bar; I don't remember which one. Holy $pit Batman! As a fairly naive young guy from Mississippi, I surely had never seen anything like we saw that night.

When the first one of us finished our San Magoo ( San Miguel beer for the uninitiated), he said, "Watch this!" He set his empty long neck San Magoo bottle on the corner, got the attention of one of the LBFM's and she came over, turned around and without using her hands, walked off with it! How? ....Use your raunchiest imagination to figure it out!!!

Little did I know that ten years later, Subic Bay, Cubi Point and 'Po City would become pretty much a second home for us in Airwing Five since we couldn't get much ACM or
weapons training flying out of Atsugi, Japan.

Yep! At end of the aforementioned Middie cruise in the summerr of '72, we were all consolidated for the flight back to CONUS at Clarke and if I remember correctly we were put up in a hotel in Baggio 'til rooms opened up at the "Q". A typhoon was blowing through and when it cleared out, there was a "coming out of the rain" Party at the O-club and all drinks were 5 cents, i.e. a beer was a nickel a mixed drink was a nickel, a double was ten cents, etc...YAHOO!!!

There were some HUNGOVER Middies on the flight back the next day but it sure was fun !

I got married about a week later and reported to flight school a couple of weeks after that.
