The problem is, the OP isn't the only one out there with a 710 that thinks he really has something special, because its a Remington you know. I belong to some buy/sell/trade groups on facebook, the vast majority of the posters don't have anything I'd drive across town to pick up even if it were free. Last week a guy was posting about his 710 7Mag and how it was a lot better gun than his dad's 700 BDL. I'm not sure what the definition of better is.

Barrel wall thickness isn't the issue. The fact that the 7mm Rem case and thus chamber is larger than the 9,3x62, well, now there's a limiting factor.

My granddaughter's husband who knows absolutely nothing about guns bought a Remington 710 with the scope already on it from the factory. My SIL, brought it to the range to sight it in for him. I put him up a 200 yard benchrest target and it was a full 200 yards from the bench.

My SIL, now my ex-SIL, brought the target in and had FIVE bullet holes in the mothball (that's BR terminology for the 1 inch circle in the center) and not a shot touched the outer ring of the target. It shot slightly better than 1/2 MOA with factory ammo in .270 Win. A fluke? Very likely but for five shots?

My x-SIL was bragging about being able to shoot a rifle and I reminded him that if the rifle won't produce there ain't a man alive than can shoot small groups with it. Later the x-SIL shot at a doe at about 140 yards with a .280 that we built him. Broke her front leg and we got her the next day when she got in the pond still swimming like a duck.

I have to agree with Redneck on this one. The 710 is a POS from the start. The mag attach point on the front breaks often making the rifle a single shot. It is a discontinued model. It is pure junk in this writer opinion.
