I thought I was in but it ended up being a button buck which would have been legal but I won't do it

Seems like today things Are shaking
I got in late just after light saw a 140" 8pt with a doe driving to my spot. Bumped a deer right by my stand have seen 5 doe and a 7 pt of course the only one I could have killed was the buck
3 friends have arrows in deer this morning
One recovered one hit shoulder so probably won't brand the other I have my buddy out of the woods and am going to help him he's a bit green and only hasi killed one with his bow
He says it was big quartering away shot hit it back but from the angle he described soundsike it is a good shot

Honey pie just called and said dead deer around corner from our house in someone's yard with a arrow in it

Nice buck. He sure is in a steep place, though.

Shoulder shot here on dead hog is interesting, even though muscles are relaxed.

Damn I found the deer for him gutted it and helped him drag it out
That deer easily goes over 200 lbs

Saturday was indeed a great day. I and a friend both killed our bucks Saturday as well. Me in B-port, he in Bath.

Lots of chasing and grunting going on in the woods.

Good deal glad to hear you got one!!!

I hope they keep this up thru next weekend my fear is lock down for the gun opener.

Yesterday was stelar in the am. I went to the big buck spot and figured I fill a doe tag. Things started out as usual with the 2 fawns, then 5 doe behind me moving thru no shots.
Then 6 pt walks by me at 10 yds. 3 more buck wandering around.
Then I see one of the big guys going thru the thick right past my other stand. 3 minutes later I hear noise and he's under the apple tree to my right,he runs off the fawn and just starts eating apples.He's just a super deer 8pt high,long tines and heavy. He then moves away and 5 minutes later I see the other big shooter come out of the creek thickets. I see him for about 20 seconds and he's into more thick stuff.
5 minutes later I hear noise and deer walks under the apple tree again it's the 1st big 8pt he again eats apples and after a minute or so steps out onto the run and walks right out infront of my stand and passes me in the wide opened at 15 yds!!
I wanted to jump off a bridge at that point,kick myself for not waiting and miss judging the stage of the rut!
He passes by without a clue Im there and heads off looking for a doe I presume.
After that I said screw trying to fill a doe tag and slipped down and out. All this happened before 8:20 am

Glad both buck are still around and great being so close, but was heart wrenching to have him come thru my set up as I planned only to have to watch him walk by, but thats my fault for punching my tag earlier.

Here are some pictures of both buck I saw unfortunately the big 8pt just skirted the camera near my stand but I got him approaching on the other camera though

I put the bow away Sunday and am not so patiently awaiting Saturdays gun opener.
I slipped in today and hung a stand for my buddy who's coming up from Pittsburg to hunt with me.
He put an arrow in one this afternoon down there but is waiting till the am to retreive it.
He said the shot was a bit back but he watched it bed down 70 yds from his stand. I convinced him best call was to wait till 1st light and make sure its dead

Kind of sad archery season has draw to an end, but looking forward to hunting with my partner

Wait more than 30 minutes around here and all you'll find is a bare area and furry turds.

Buddy reteived his deer this am right where he watched him bed

Unfortunately I'm a 10 minute drive from Ontario County so it will be the 12 ga A bolt for me...I did loan out my 7mm-08 LVSF to a buddy hunting Ontario county so I'll kinda be there
