Anybody have a suggestion for a set of rings? Or an extra set they aren't using and would sell?

Anybody have a suggestion for a set of rings? Or an extra set they aren't using and would sell? You may want to specify whether you want era/period correct, preference for 1 piece or 2 piece mounts, or would a set of the newer talley lightewights bother you? There are so many options out there. If you are just looking for something to throw on your rifle, I'm sure many of us have a 1 piece redfield/leupold base and rings laying around we could send your way. What scope are you planning on using? I'm assuming this will be going on your '51 std wt 30-06...
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

That's correct BSA..the 51. I was figuring I would put the Bushnell Elite 3200 I have lying in the safe on it since I don't have anything else at the moment.

If you're interested in a period scope and mount, I have a Balvar in the original adjustable mount for the P-64 M-70 I might be talked out of.
I bought this for one of the 270s and decided on different glass.

That modern scope kind of screams simplicity like Talley lightweight lows to me. Part #930702. That's what I'd do...The leupold DD's also work great and are very strong. If you want to spend more money you can look at conetrols and S&K's. Less money and you can go with weavers..You'll need the mounts that are for the .860" hole spacing. Hope that helps...

IF however you're talking about your 70's with various mounts setup BSA then please post away. Sure enough, I know pics always help me. Here are some of my favorite setups: Talley lightweight (lows), of course that's what I run on my FWT's: fwt 270 win with 3-9x40: fwt 30-06 with 4.5-14x42: Leupold Dual Dovetails low rings: 338 Alaskan with 3-9x40 scope: 270 win fwt: 30-06 classic sporter (same rings and bases that go on a pre 64 model 70): Talley steel bases and rings (low) allow for a pretty big objective. This one is a 308 fwt that I sold. Scope is a Nikon monarch 2.5-10x42: 30-06 fwt with steel Talleys: Leupold PRW mounts and rings (Lows) on a 375 H&H. These (H&H mounts) won't fit on a std rifle, but give you an idea of how they would look. Scope is a Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10x44: Leupold QRW's (quick detatch) lows on my 375 H&H: I didn't really care for the Leupold QRW's, as they seemed to be too sharp.... The 1 piece redfield and Leupold base and rings don't get a lot of loving here, but they work on the old pre 64's: Truth be known, I think the Talley lightweight lows and Leupold dual dovetail lows are my favorites on these old rifles. Reasons being, they function very well, are strong as heck, are reasonably priced, and look pretty good. Of course YMMV..

Those are some beautiful guns you have there BSA. Question for you, what rear sight are you running on all those? Looks like some type of fold down? And are all those original stocks? Awesome shape.
Thanks,
Ron

Original flip down rear sights on the fwt's. Original rear sight on my 375 H&H. Original rear flip down sight on the 1959 Alaskan as well. All original stocks except for my 270 fwt which I just got thru refinishing and adding a repro red winchester pad on.

The dual dovetails on that std are milky tits. Clean, classic even thou not period. All I can find in the office is weaver bases and rings and another set that set up like conetrols and sk's. I love the old one and two piece period Redfields but Bass pros has the DD's in Tallahassee , can I get by with low rings? Those Tallys are nice too, the QRs would not be bad, I am gonna shoot the irons at a 100 tomorrow if the wind lays a bit, very best

WP, I'm running lows on all of my rifles. I kind of like the DD's on my 338 as well

I prefer the steel detachable Talley rings. Here is a Classic 70 with a Leupold 6x42.

I have Talley one piece on my Pre 64 featherweights as well. While I prefer the low rings I use mediums so that I can put scope caps on the scope and have moderate bolt clearance.
