Remington makes it in thier model 700.
Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money but we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money. What's interesting is the first group WORKED for their money but the other group didn't.

9.3x62 is practically identical and is a little more available.

Whelen -
Forbes 24B Remington 700 Ruger used to make M77's in 35W
I'd second looking at the 9.3x62. Ballistics are very similar.
9.3x62 -
CZ550 Sako 85

If my Tikka T3 35 Whelen (rebored .270) did not shoot so darn good I would be in line for one of these...

before you give up on the slide action remington, Id suggest carefully cleaning the bore and chamber to remove all copper fouling and use of SPEER 250 grain bullets, used with a 215 fed primer, in handloads with those bullets seated out to max cartridge length that the rifle functions correctly with, over 55 grains of H4320 its been a dependable combo for decades in all the slide action remington 35 whelens in our elk camp. remington rifles need to have carefully cleaned rifling to function at best accuracy. http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item.asp?sku=000212453I know several guys who have found the lighter 180-220 grain bullets were less than impressive for accuracy and a fouled bore made things noticeably worse, a good ammonia base bore cleaner and a good bore brush and linen patches can do wonders for accuracy. you need to push those 250 speers out at near 2300fps-2400fps minimum velocity to get best accuracy http://www.remington.com/products/f...s/centerfire/model-7600-35-calibers.aspx

Also in 9.3x62:
Tikka Zastava Sauer Mauser Blaser Anschutz 1780
And ruger was chambering it until very recently. There is a lot more factory ammunition options, too. 9.3x62 definitely gies you more cxp4 options currently. Unfortunately most rifle and ammunition manufacturers seem to have decided the Whelen is just a woods cartridge - and hence the 1:16 twists and 200 gr soft points. Obviously, it is potentially a whole lot more than that and proven effective on buffalo.

There is a nice custom 358 Mauser in the classifieds that could easily be a 35 Whelen

The Nosler Outfitter in 35 Whelen might be calling my name! It seems to be about as an ideal setup as I could want.

Don't forget about the t/c encores. Got one and it's lights out.

One of my encore tubes is in 356/358 Winchester. Rim rebate tc lets you shoot both and load 358 data on rimmed cases. Over the last year, I've bought several boxes of 356 and 358 off local shelves, and can mail order factory stuff a I could want. I see lots of 35 Whelen, as well. I've never seen a box of 9.3x anything on a store shelf, that I know of. Probably has something to do with where I live...SEUS, and not Europe.

What have you done to make your current 760 more accurate?
I would at least change the loads, the scope and if those don't improve accuracy then have the crown recut.
All guns should be locked up when not in use!

I have a Remington 7400 (semi-auto) in 35 Whelen. It has the shorter barrel. Something like 18 inches. Is it a target rifle? No. I have a couple bolt action Remington in 35 Whelen also and they shoot VERY well.
But my 7400 is easily minute of bear at 200 yds. I have a load with 250 gr Speers on top of some RL-15. It is a great rifle for fall black bears.
Cheers

I have tried everything the best group we can get with the 7600 is a 6 inch group at 50 yards with 200gr hornady and vargat powder I had a 760 35 whelen and it would shoot a 2inch group at 100 . I have a few other 7600 and they shoot great. Does ruger chamber the 35 whelen
