I have a Rem 700 SPS 270 Win 24" barrel any reason why it couldn't be turned into a 270 Weatherby, it is a bit slim. Could be an easy way to try out a 270 Wby which Ive always liked. Don't really want a 270 Win even though it is a great round since I also have a 260 Rem.

No reason. Bolt face change and a rechamber.

I should have been a bit more clear, it would be going on a magnum action just wondering if the standard contour would be a bit light. Just thinking through a few things I could also find a 7 mm RM take off and use that or maybe a 300 H&H out of a 30-06 take off. They are all good rounds that I have some interest in.

I think the standard Sporter contour at 24" would be perfect for the .270 Wby.

Thanks, I already own this barrel so it would be easy to just have it rechambered and installed on my magnum Rem 700.

Have dies now and am going ahead with a 270 Wby, any reasons to avoid the SPS standard 270 Win barrel? A 24" barrel is fine with me, have this sitting around from my 35 Whelen project. I necked up some 264 Wm brass and my Rem 700 feeds it well, the 264 WM has done well but it is time for a change and has always had a thing for the 270 Wby.

I say GO FOR IT. Course I am pretty high on that round and have several....

I DON'T NEED A WSM AS I HAVE A WEATHERBY!
