What do ya'll think of them? They don't seem as nicely finished as a smith.

I had an old 357 with a 6" barrel. It is one of the 2 trades I regret.

I'm not sure of the newer ones, but the old ones were smooth and shot very well.

I have two Dan Wesson revolvers, 357 MAG and 44 MAG, both of early Monson Mass. manufacture,
that I regard as nicely finished as any S&W or Colt revolver - if not moreso.

Dan Wesson's are drop-dead gorgeous and drop-dead accurate!

my mom's former boss, whom my wife currently works for has had a Dan Wesson 8 inch 44 mag with the top half of the cylinder blown out for long as I can remember which is about 20 years. I don't know why but he refuses to send it back and get it fixed.

I had a roommate in college that had the four barrel pistol pack 44 Mag. It was well made and finished and very accurate but had a DA trigger pull that just sucked and the SA pull was not near that of my M29-2. Oh, and it was a tank as well. Just didn't compare for me, much preferring my Smith's.

the quality depends on the model and when it was made, Ive got a stainless 445 dwsm thats every bit as well made as most S&W revolvers, but Ive seen a few other DW revolvers that were not as well finished

I had a 6" 357 and 8" 44 mag back in the late 80's - fine revolvers. Wish I still had them today...

The barrel thing was a very slick idea, and they're very accurate. The lockwork is convoluted and all internal parts are investment cast (no problem there) but they didn't clean up the castings well, so the fit is a bit crude. On the outside they give the impression that they are made very well, but he under the hood and you see a different story. Pull the side plate on a Taurus revolver and compare, it's like night and day. From a design standpoint the Taurus even beats S&W but their manufacturing quality doesn't match.

So think about that. People here trash Taurus revolvers all day long (although most have never owned one or have ever had the side plate off one), and the quality of manufacture and design of a Taurus is worlds better than the Dan Wesson.

I think the DW's are very good looking revolvers, and they are cool, but I'd never choose one as my primary revolver for anything but target shooting in single action.

I had a 6" .357. It felt like I was cocking a cap gun. Just never liked how the mechanics felt on it. I don't know it never grew on me so down the road it went.

All of them that I have been around were very accurate

I got banned on another web site for a debate that happened on this site. That's a first
