I just started using Leupy dotsjury is still out, but I got a bunch of mileage out of the Ballistic Plexesstill NOTHING better on a .22 IMHO... Plastikkas and FFII's are made for each other.

I think I'm going to empty a BUNCH of partial boxes with my new Ruger American Rifle 223 today.
I think I have almost every combination known to man loaded and ready to go. My room is full of 1/2 empty plastic boxes. It could be my new form of load development...

Thinking a guy could slum FF II's for a long time without a failure....
Side note, one of my hunting pards is a big bore Contender fanatic, and he shoots them, not just for admiring. After years of trials and errors all of his hard kickers wear Burris stuff. He's had multiple failures of the other major brands, including one on an african lion hunt that made it interesting. FWIW, the one that is on this 223 AI I've had on various rifles, including a 7STW. I've owned it about 15 years and it's still going strong. Owned at least a half dozen others. never had a problem with Burris scopes. Best, GWB

CZ topped with a FF II with dots that has been around a while, and a pile of dinks it accounted for this year with the 55 gr TSX FB.

Taking the graying lab for a highly probable, "last" hunt. Film at 11.
Well, I thought maybe one last duck shoot was in the pooch. Alas, I was too optimistic. Dark. Wet. Windy. Perfect. She was hacking on the way to the blind. Tough walking in mud....she keeled over. I thought that was it.......and hated my selfish self. She lay there for a minute and kinda recovered. We were nearly there, so I got her to the blind. She was excited..........then the flight started. She was alert and trembling as ducks circled and came in. She would turn and look at me when they would land and nothing happened. I knew by then that there would be no shooting today. It was over........her last hunt had arrived. I had known it was close. It was closer than that. We made it back to the rig slowly, stopping now and then, so she could rest. She needed a little help to get into the front of my truck. Whiskey..........

Dogs are much better people than people are.
I'll tip one for her too.

Damn 'slave, I will raise a glass in that fine dogs honor. I've been on a couple of those "last hunts" I carried a Brittney home over a mile and a half many years ago......left a Browning A-5 on the ditchbank...that could be replaced.

Just funning. No harm intended. I go the nickname from catching fish.... I knew that. We're all physic here on the BTE. And we're only serious when we're not. Caught a few Blues myself...nothing will make your scrot shrink like having one of those big phoucs slam your bait on the inside rigger. Hey Zeus, them things are big! And then there's the Bluefin Tunner. Tunner, BTW, I'm not talking about YOU, so relax. Anyhoo, Tunners are fun but them phoucs can sure as chitt put a bend in a 130# class rod. And hurt your drag. And your back. Too bad you don't shoot Marlins. I guess. My little 80 year old '94 still chucks .25-20 bullets very well. BD

The poem, authored by Gayl Jokiel, reads as follows:Walk with an Old Dog
Because you will not be forever,
Hope against time I may,
I paint your picture in my memory,
Eyes blue with age, muzzle gone grey.
Because you walked with me in springtime,
Puppy-clumsy, running free.
As you grew older we grew together.
You became part of me.
Because you shared with me my sorrows,
Not understanding, simply there.
Often spurring me to laughter,
My friend, you know how much I care.
Because the years have slowed your fleetness,
Though your spirit is still strong.
I promise I will take more time now,
So that you can go along.
Because you do not fear the future,
Living on in the now,
I draw strength from your example,
Yet time keeps slipping by somehow.
Because the day will soon be coming
When I will no longer see,
You rise to greet me, but in my memory,
You will always walk with me
Salud!
Best,
GWB

My FFIIs have been used and abused more than any scope I own ( except a Leupold VXIII 1.5-5) And Ive yet to have an issue with any of them. Kilt my first deer with a Model 88 and a Burris. Good rig, got stole. My second Burris was an epic belly flop, wound up in the trash can. I discovered Leupolds and El Paso Weaver K series scopes about the same time. They rock. Millet red dots are hot....in the swamps. Had a few other oddities along the way. Lyman, Redfield. Only thing put of that herd I held onto was an Unertl of about 16X and a 1.5" objective. Phuocin' thing is awesome....
