There's something particularly ghoulish about modern, supposedly civilized, methods of execution. Killing someone is inescapably a violent act. When you seek to sanitize it, it only perverts it. Prefer a halberd and an oak stump? That was my point.

Why not just use a firing squad? Not much I admire about em', but the North Korean's creative use of Mortar Fire and Anti-Aircraft Cannon for ridding themselves of their condemned is not without appeal.  GTC

Maybe use less of a dose so it takes longer next time? I guess we still have some time to work the kinks out. Shoot for a 1/2 on the next one.

Midazolam is a powerful sleep inducing sedative which can cause apnea WITHOUT air hunger, you simply pass out.
Hydromorphone is an opioid that reduces that air hungriness, so pharmacologically speaking it makes sense to use such a combination. As a scientific mind I wonder what happened, dosing may have been off??
Otherwise, I think he should have been skinned alive with a blunt spoon and done away with a nail clipper.
PS. Regarding the lawyers comment on "damaged brain from birth??" good riddance then, now he won't harm anyone.
