Built by Kyle Craig, owner/operator of Craigs Custom Rifles in Oro Valley, Az. Stiller Predator action 26" 1:9" #4 fluted Brux, with the flutes cerakoted to match the stock. McMillian Game Scout EDGE Grey with black and olive specs. Gun finished out at #7 3 oz... Lighter then we expected so I'm happy about that. I'll be topping with Talley LW's and most likely a Zeiss hd5 5.5-25. Group is a test group smith shot with 180 Bergers and H1000. I'll be shooting the LRAB.

It doesn't finish at 7.3# with the scope, just the bare rifle but still a very nice weight!

Very nice man!! Love the stock choice and color!
Which LRAB? What powder? Id say H1000 would be a great start.

Looks really cool, but I hope you're going to use lower mounts, as the current setup will require a dilldo purse for proper cheek weld!

Just an FYI, apparently dilldo, when spelled correctly, is a censored word.

Great looking rifle! Casey's Coues Culler... has a nice ring to it.
Keep us updated on the brass life and how that edge game scout handles the recoil.
Can't wait to get down there and see it perform.

Nice rig! Plan on running 168 ABLRs in my 7 LRM. Might try the 175s if the Winchester factory tube will stabilize them.

Very nice! That rifle should do the trick. I need to shoot my 7 more ..The last time I pulled the trigger on it was the bang flop buck at 648 yards back in Oct...
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

You shot anything across a chronograph yet? I've been loading for a buds LRM, not seeing the claimed potential yet, I've been loading 180 bergers.

Unfortunately, I am sure I will not see the 3100 fps like portrayed as the smith said he was seeing pressure signs a grain or two below Gunwersk favorite 72 grains of H1000. Hopefully, with the 175's Ill be able to get above 3000.

I'm pretty interested in what you find your actual load and velocity with the 180s and the 175s. I'm just about to pull the trigger on a build in 7LRM Please keep me/us informed. Thanks!

Curious over here. Bob..sleepless night here and this ole thread came up in a search I was doing.Sorry I missed it on the first go round. The best I got with it was 70.5gr of H1000 for 2920 average,26" tube 180 berger, hit pressure even sooner with a scenar. As a comparison, I load 72.3 (over 74 with Norma brass) gr of H1000 in my 7wby with 180 scenars for 2960 out of a 24" tube. I admit I aint shy when it comes to pouring the coals to a cartridge, and even so I could not get the LRM upto what the fans are claiming..I was actually ready to build one as I thought it was a great design, after working with one I decided to do another 7 wby, I dont want a 26" tube. its still a nice cart, and I know Casey is still using his, curious if he'll chime in here to tell us what he ended up with. believe I sent a pic to Casey of a hell of a bull that my friend took with that LRM,that I loaded the ammo for,at pretty long range. If i still have the pic in PB i'll PM it to you..It performed awesome, just aint the magic cart as we were lead to believe at first

I just sent Casey an e-mail to return to this thread.
I have been using the 375 Ruger brass necked down tp 7mm but not moving shoulder back. Tried a variety of loads with the 180 hybrid and wasn't satisfied. I thought it might have been the Rem takeoff's twist so I switched to the Berger 168 classic hunter. I am getting 3268 fps from a 26" barrel with excellent accuracy.
One issue I have had with this brass is after the first firing the case is a bit reluctant to come out of the chamber. At first I thought it might be the chamber. But after chambering four different barrels and still encountering the same resistance I decided to make a small base die. I cut off the shoulder and neck area of a RCBS 375 Ruger FL die and also removed a bit of the bottom portion. I can adjust this tapered piece to size down the web area as needed. Now the brass is easily removed. I may get a custom 1 in 9 or 8.5 eventually to again try the 180s.
For now the 168s are shooting so well and fit the old M77 Ruger tang safety magazine perfectly with the ability to engage the rifling if desired.
I think there is merit in using this 375 case because of its 2.5" length and the availability of 375 Ruger brass. Have considered making a 338/375 sometime in the future.

roso/AZ thanks for the info and follow up...I had forgotten I asked about that so no concerns. Interesting data from both of you. I got the PM and that is a hell of a bull! Looks like those 180 Scenars work well at long range. I can imagine the 180's are reluctant to go fast....long heavy bullet for a 7mm.

The rifle was up for sale. No takers, so i kept shooting.
I had the Smith rebed her, and switched to the berger hybrids, 71 gr of Retumbo at roughly 2950 . I have not ran this load over a chronograph, but that's what the long range accubond was at, and my turrets match up at 400-600.

Was interested in the 7LRM but seems performance is questionable. My Rem 700 7mm Rem mag sends 180 bergers out at 2860 . 68 grains of Ramshot mag and Fed 215 mag primers. 90 fps is not much to concern oneself with. Just saying. Still would like to hear about future load development to see if it offers more of a good thing.

Sidepass,
If one was to truly lean on the cartridge, run pressures to maximum potential, mess with ber slow powders (RL 33 & 50, US 869, H50BMG), I would imagine 3100-3200 would be obtainable without to much issue. I am perfectly fine and happy @~ 3000, so I have no desire to push the brass life, barrel life, recoil etc to the extreme.
Plus, I like showing people the loaded rounds (nothing super impressive about it, not much longer than my 300 wsm rounds) and seeing the looks on their faces when I say that is a .674 BC, 180 gr bullet at 3000 fps.

Thanks for explaining your take on it. I don't hot rod my 7mm Rem mag most of the time my 180 Berger load is the exception. It is very accurate in MY rifle with out signs of pressure. Merry Christmas .
