Gentlemen,
I just bought a Remington 700 XCR 375 H&H off the classifieds. The rifle is sitting in a factory LSS laminated stock. I intend to put a Leupy VX3 1.75-6x32 on this rifle. The gun comes with factory open sights, and I would like to take advantage of these if the necessity arises. Having said this I plan to use Talley QD (lever)low rings in Talley two piece bases. Based on these descriptors, do you think I will need the extended bases or will the standard Talley bases suffice? I also see they have a "Signature Series" base listed, anybody know about these?? Thanks to each of you for your time.

I regularly mount the 2.5x8x36 which has an eye relief of 4.5 in standard bases and never have a problem. The scope you have listed has an eye relief of 4.4 so I would see no need for the extended base here.

Thanks Dean....I didn't know what you might have had on this rifle, but had I known it was Talleys I would have just shot you a PM. Still kinda curious what the "Signature Series" bases Talley has listed. You ever heard of it? Oh by the way, did you ever use Talley QD Levers? If so, any problems with R2Z or recoil issues on 375? Thanks!

From what I can understand Talley signatures were the original base design made by Dave Talley and has been their standard for the life of the company. They also offer the one piece base and of course their talley LW versions. While I have not used their QD design all of their products are of high quality . In my humble opinion you would not go wrong with the signatures with lever locks in the application that you are looking for . An excellent choice in my opinion.

The campfire outfitter's gear shop - link at the top right of the screen - has excellent prices and quick shipping direct from Talley. Supports this site too.

I have tally levers on my. 376 steyr. Recoil is stout and no issues. Taken it to Texas 3 times by air and even with the baggage handlers, never lost zero. Take it off quite often to use the open sights and always returned to zero with no isues. I have the leupold levers on my AR and have had no issues with them either, but they havent had the use/abuse my Tally's have had either.....
