Any one here have one? My good buddy just acquired a American Hunting Rifles in 600 OK.
I have shot both 505 Gibbs and 500 Nitro but this looks to be in another league yet. Can't wait to try it out.
Looking at 900 Woodleigh's over 7828. If anyone else here has one let me know what you are shooting.

Was it the one that Wayne had on consignment at his shop? THAT was a beautiful rifle at a great price.

I've had 3 different 600 OK rifles, and one of the first 10 rifles in 700 AHR well. As long as you don't load them past 2,150 fps or so, you can shoot them without the brake, although the brake is very effective in taming the beast. You can also load lighter 650gr bullets to take the edge off. Just grip tight with your weight on your front foot, pull the trigger, and let the rifle rock you back onto your back foot. Much easier to shoot than a 458 Wby, and even some 458 Lott rifles, as they're usually built in the 14lb weight range.

He found it on GunBroker and it wore on him too long. That's good info biebs I have shot the 458 lott quite a bit. That is exactly how I have shot big bores. Did you load for your 600OK?

I know the owner of that rifle. It's the only one ever built on an MRC action. Should be a great rifle. I don't remember the load I used, but it was Reloader 15 as I remember. Wayne at AHR would have some load data, for sure, or Dr Rob Garrick in Nevada who developed the 600 OK.

Yes, Wayne is a great builder....highly skilled with big bore safari rifles, on time, and reasonably priced.

There is no such thing as over kill Just big Calibre .Dead is Dead This is true, but it seems to be a fitting name for this cartridge.

I know where there's one built on a Granite Mountain action for $6,500 including 40 rounds of ammunition. That's about 1/2 the build cost.

There is no such thing as over kill Just big Calibre .Dead is Dead I believe it's called overkill for the damage it does on the back end.

No, actually not that bad to shoot.....big push instead of a fast jab. I think recoil velocity is harder to handle that recoil ft/lbs.

The rifle finally arrived today and it is very impressive. AHR builds a beauty and I can't wait to spend some of my buddies cash burning some ammo.
I wondered how it would shoulder and point and that was another very pleasant surprise.
I have really been enjoying his big bore fetish.

I shot Ross Seyfried's .600 Nitro on a modern version of the Farquharson single shot. It was not in the same league, recoil wise, as the .585 Nyati but seemed to kill paper about the same.

Well, I will certainly enjoy shooting it much like everything I shoot. I think the only "mine is bigger" match he has in mind is his elephant hunt.
