Just ordered a savage hog hunter, SA with blind mag. I know it comes with some light green POS tupperware stock.
Whats a good replacment stock for it? I know hogue does the overmold and that Bell and carlson do the duramax, but isnt any bell and carlson short of the medalist about equal to the savage factory?
this is a short barreled hunting fifle with a med-hvy bbl so i dont want a full on tactical stock for it.

I liked my McMillan Savage Classic a whole lot.

Hogue is heavy garbage and the Duramaxx is just garbage.

Maybe the McMillan HTG?

Stockade makes a decent stock too but Kevin Rayhill is a unethical SOB and the wait is like 6 months. Unless you pay him a $100 bribe to "expedite" your order.

Have you considered the McMillan Savage Hunter pattern?

I have a heavye barrel Savage 10 bedded in a McM Savage Hunter, which is the "heavy Hunter", not the lighter Sako/Tikka style Hunter.

I like the raised cheekpiece and pistol grip geometry of the Hunter style stocks and find that although they are a little heavier/bulkier than the Classic or MR patterns, they are very quick to the shoulder and point very well.

I endedup getting a factory trophy hunter walnut with metal trigger guard from Savage. Last one they had in stock. An older one I guess, since it was a blind mag set-up.
maybe at some point down the road if I find a good deal on a Mcmillan i would go that route.
hard for me to justify a $500 stock on a $400 rifle.

Bringing this one back up. I just bought a hog hunter and not finding much in the way of drop in replacement stocks. Not interested in the tactical look or thumbholes. Want something like a classic hunting profile. Anybody have suggestions?

let me know when you find out. I suspect a hogged out mcmillan is the best/only(?) option. the stock that comes on the hawg hunter is shcitt. the drop-in B&C medalist is too bulky and clumsy to carry anywhere past your sandbags.
